HAWTHORN defender Jenna Richardson has made the cut for womens.afl's Team of the Week for round seven in just her second AFLW game.

Richardson, signed from the Hawks' VFLW side, missed the first five games with a thigh injury but impressed in the side's win over Port Adelaide, up against Erin Phillips.

The team is selected to mirror the All-Australian side: five defenders, six midfielders (including a ruck), five forwards and five interchange players.  

Like the All-Australian team, it has players selected in general categories, rather than in traditional positions. The 16-a-side set-up often means teams play with varying configurations, making set selections (e.g wings and flanks) difficult. 

DEFENDERS

Nat Grider (Brisbane), Lucy McEvoy (Carlton), Jenna Richardson (Hawthorn), Eilish Sheerin (Richmond), Charlie Thomas (West Coast)

Thomas (23 disposals, 11 intercepts, seven marks) had a career-best performance against Richmond, with Sheerin (22, 544m gained) impressing at the other end.

Grider (14, eight intercepts) stood tall under the weight of the Roos' inside 50s, McEvoy (17, 13 kicks) directed play off half-back, while Richardson (12 disposals, 10 intercepts) was super strong in just her second AFLW match.

MIDFIELDERS

Breann Moody (Carlton, ruck), Kiara Bowers (Fremantle), Maddy Prespakis (Essendon), Ebony Marinoff (Adelaide), Charlie Rowbottom (Gold Coast), Eliza West (Melbourne),

Moody (22 hitouts, 11 disposals, two goals) controlled the game from start to finish, receiving all 10 AFLCA votes, a rarity for a ruck.

Bowers was simply outstanding in a losing side, recording 29 disposals, 19 tackles and 11 clearances, while Maddy Prespakis (37 and 10 clearances) was equally impressive in Essendon's defeat.

Marinoff (32, 11 tackles, six clearances, 697m gained) takes her near-customary TOTW spot, Rowbottom (22, eight clearances, five tackles) is building week on week and West (24 and three clearances) was especially creative.

FORWARDS

Jac Dupuy (Gold Coast), Chloe Molloy (Collingwood), Chelsea Randall (Adelaide), Chloe Scheer (Geelong), Bonnie Toogood (Essendon)

Scheer (eight marks, 3.4) was the game-breaker in Geelong's victory, as was Randall (18, two goals) in the Crows' come-from-behind win.

Dupuy (14, 11 hitouts, two goals) was a handful for the Swans, Toogood (16, six marks, two goals) threatened to tear the game away from the Cats and Molloy (12, 10 tackles, two goals) was a Pies gamechanger.

INTERCHANGE

Jasmine Garner (North Melbourne), Kate Hore (Melbourne), Emma Kearney (North Melbourne), Jaimee Lambert (Collingwood), Abbie McKay (Carlton)

Garner (21, three clearances, 386m gained) nearly got the Roos over the line, while Kearney (19, four marks) caused havoc off half-back and kicked a goal in the process.

Lambert (22, three clearances) was best afield in her match, McKay (26, four clearances) was first to the footy and Hore (16, six score involvements and a goal) was a strong conduit between the midfield and forward lines.
