CARLTON AFLW skipper Brianna Davey has officially requested a trade to Collingwood.

Womens.afl understands the 24-year-old Davey asked the club on Saturday for a move to the crosstown rivals, just days after coming equal-first in the club best and fairest alongside Maddy Prespakis.

Davey has played 16 games for the Blues after being signed as a marquee player in 2016, missing much of 2018 after rupturing her right ACL.

However, Collingwood will have to satisfy Carlton's trade demands, as neither are an expansion club and Davey – the AFLPA captain of the year – can't simply walk.

It is understood Carlton will drive an extremely hard bargain, with the club incredibly reluctant to part with its star midfielder.

The Magpies are in a bit of a bind, with a young list with only a few established stars. Captain Steph Chiocci, star defender Chloe Molloy and best and fairest winner Jaimee Lambert have all re-signed with the club.

Collingwood does, however, have the No.1 draft pick at its disposal, but whether that will be enough to compensate for a player at the top of her game remains to be seen.
