Club: Brisbane

Coach: Craig Starcevich

2019 captain: Leah Kaslar

2019 best and fairest: Ally Anderson

2019 in a nutshell: After playing in the Grand Final the previous two years, last season was one of rebuilding. The Lions blooded plenty of teenagers and after a 2-2 start the round five home loss to Geelong sent the season spiralling. They still had a chance to sneak into the finals entering the last round, but finishing fourth of five teams in their conference was reflective of a tough season.

New players: Lucy Bellinger, Greta Bodey, Dakota Davidson, Belle Dawes, Tahlia Hickie, Hannah Hillman, Rheanne Lugg, Maria Moloney, Orla O'Dwyer, Lily Postlethwaite, Selina Priest, Cathy Svarc

Notable departures: Nat Exon, Sabrina Frederick, Leah Kaslar, Kate McCarthy, Sam Virgo

FULL FIXTURE Every round, every game

Circle it: You can't go past the QClash. With former Brisbane assistant David Lake now coaching Gold Coast, the Suns also have recruited an incredible nine former Lions players for their inaugural season.

Player to watch: After an excellent debut season in 2018, Sophie Conway missed last year with a ruptured ACL. The clever forward is back fitter than ever and could have a big impact on Brisbane's fortunes.

Best Rising Star chance: Lily Postlethwaite

2020 prediction: The Lions again had their list decimated by the competition's expansion, forcing them to go younger again. There's no expectation for them to seriously challenge for the premiership, but Starcevich's team has made a habit of punching above their weight and you could again watch for them to challenge for finals.
