FORTY minutes.

That's all it took for Western Bulldogs vice-captain Brooke Lochland to kick an AFLW record seven goals in the inaugural Pride Game against Carlton in 2018.

Ahead of the 2020 Pride Game, Lochland delved into what this game means to her and gave some insight into a goal-by-goal breakdown of her historic performance.

"It's just a special feeling coming into Pride Game," Lochland told womens.afl.

"You've got those people who come along and feel like they can be themselves. We're proud that we can create that environment for them.

"It's definitely my favourite game for the year. It means so much more than just a football game.

"We want to create an environment in the club where people can be themselves and be authentic in their own way," Lochland said.

"The stories that come out of this round, the impact we have – it's something we're really proud of."

Goal No. 1: 13 minutes left in the second quarter

"We were kicking into the wind in the first quarter, it was hard to score. I think I hit the post in the first quarter."

After a slow start, Lochland opened her tally just two minutes into the second quarter from a set shot from tough angle.

Goal No.2: 11.50 left in the second quarter

Here comes the rush. Just a minute later, Lochland pounced on a long bomb and wheeled around for a beautiful finish with five Blues defenders around her.

"I think I kicked four in the second quarter. I had it coming down often from the mids, so it was easy with the way they were delivering the ball."

Goal No.3: 8.20 left in the second quarter

After a contest in the forward 50, Carlton's Nicola Stevens zones away from Lochland to stand on the goal-line to sweep up any hack kicks that might come her way.

Blues defender Kerryn Harrington doesn't pick up Lochland until it's too late. Bang – three in five minutes.

Goal No.4: 2.33 left in the second quarter

A long ball in catches Carlton's defence off-guard and Lochland finishes with an athletic tap-in that Sam Kerr would be proud of.

Darcy Vescio previously held the record for most goals in an AFLW game with four. Lochland needed just under 11-and-a-half minutes to equal that.

Goal No.5: 5.55 left in the third quarter

How Lochland managed to have the entire forward 50 to run into by herself at this point is anyone's guess.

Get your pens out, it's time to update the record books.

Goal No.6: 14.18 left in the fourth quarter

Did Lochland mean to set Bonnie Toogood up?

Did Toogood get a hand to this one? "We trust the umpires decisions," said Lochland with a laugh. "I was trying to set her up, but luckily in the end she let it go through for a goal."

Goal No.7: 3.04 left in the fourth quarter

Magnificent seven.
