BRISBANE made it a clean sweep in the QW Winter Series, accounting for Gold Coast by 17 points in the third and final match.

Lions rookie Brianna McFarlane – who missed the entire 2019 AFLW season with a shoulder injury – booted a game-high three goals.

In the first match a Brisbane women's side had played at the Gabba, Ally Anderson was at her damaging best, while young midfielder Jade Ellenger was also impressive.

Lions AFLW-listed players Nat Grider, Jesse Wardlaw, Lauren Arnell and Emily Bates (pictured above in game two) also hit the scoreboard.

"[It was] such a special moment for our team to run onto the ground in front of such a supportive crowd. Our fans are just so passionate, and you can't ask for more positive energy," Brisbane AFLW CEO Breeanna Brock told the club website.

"To see close to 3000 come to a standalone game is incredible. [It] just goes to show that the interest in women's footy is strong. With such a fantastic venue on show, and the picture-perfect weather, it allowed both teams to provide a great contest."

The Suns hit their straps in the final term, but the gap between the two sides proved to be too much.

Former Giant Brittany Perry booted two, while unlisted midfielder Kate Surman and defender Jade Pregelj were the Suns' best.

Recruit Tiarna Ernst also played, the former Dog took to the forward line in potentially a sign of things to come for the usual defender.

"For us, it was never about the result on the scoreboard," Gold Coast coach David Lake told the Suns website.

"We had 80 minutes of football to play, and for the better part of 70 to 80 minutes, we played really well.

"We were able to score, and I felt like we had some speed in our forward line and we were threatening coming through. Today I felt like it was a really complete performance."

A Queensland representative side made up of players from the QAFLW, the Winter Series and Gold Coast and Brisbane (only those who have played less than four AFLW games) will take on a Western Australian side in Perth on Saturday.
