Led by skipper Brianna Davey and new recruit Madison Prespakis, the Blues won five of their last six games to qualify for the decider. However, it was significantly outclassed on Grand Final day, losing by 45 points to Adelaide.

FULL FIXTURE Every round, every game

Circle it: Carlton will meet traditional rivals Collingwood at Ikon Park on a Sunday afternoon in round two. The Blues have won all three of their meetings with the Pies and would love to get one over former skipper Brianna Davey (pictured below).

Player to watch: The Blues have high hopes for second selection Lucy McEvoy, who is about as versatile as they come. The teenager can play anywhere, but will likely find her home as a key-position defender or as a big-bodied midfielder in the AFLW.

Best Rising Star chance: Lucy McEvoy

2020 predictions: The big question remains how Carlton covers the loss of former skipper Brianna Davey, who shocked the club when she requested a trade to bitter rivals Collingwood during the off-season. The Blues are hopeful pick No.2 Lucy McEvoy will offset her departure somewhat, but the exit of one of the League's best players is bound to leave a massive void. Four games at Ikon Park – and another at Marvel Stadium – should help their cause throughout the home and away season.
