IN THE lead up to the 10th NAB AFLW Premiership Season, all 18 teams will head out to local communities as part of the AFLW Community Camp program.

With the inaugural AFLW Community Camp program kicking off in 2024, this season aims to build off last year’s success and complement the AFL program, which has been running since 2003 and has reached more than one million children.

The Community Camp program gives AFLW players the opportunity to connect with women and girls in remote and regional communities across the country – giving back to local schools and clubs and inspiring the next generation of AFLW stars.

The camps will begin in May during the AFLW preseason, as the players prepare for the upcoming 2025 NAB AFLW competition, which begins in August.

Adelaide is the first team to kick off its camp, spending an enriching two days in Berri and the surrounding Riverland region in South Australia on May 12 and 13, closely followed by Hawthorn who will visit Bairnsdale, Victoria in that same week from May 15-16.

The North Melbourne Tasmanian Kangaroos will head south to visit Burnie in Tasmania, as they maintain their strong relationship with communities off the mainland.

AFL Executive General Manager of Game Development, Rob Auld, said he is thrilled to see the AFLW Community Camps return after a successful first year.

“Pre-season Community Camps have been an essential part of the AFL’s overall goal of engaging with local communities and growing the game from a grassroots level for more than two decades,” Auld said.

“It’s fantastic to now have the AFLW programs engaged in the same way, inspiring the next generation of young girls across Australia as the players travel to all corners of the country in the lead up to celebrating the AFLW’s milestone 10th season.

“As women and girls participation continues to grow year on year and as we strive to reach one million participants by 2033, it’s more important than ever for our elite AFLW players to connect with local communities and new audiences.

"I’d like to thank all the clubs, players and staff involved in delivering the 2025 AFLW Community Camps. Each one of you play a vital part in bringing our game to all corners of Australia as we deliver our vision to have as many people as possible love and connect with our game."
