ST KILDA is boasting a youthful side in its season-opener against Carlton on Sunday afternoon, with veteran Darcy Guttridge to miss through a back injury.

The Saints have handed an AFLW debut to draftee Abby Hobson and club debut to 20-year-old Sophie Butterworth.

Defender Kyla Forbes has also missed selection after playing in 11 games last season, including the Saints' qualifying final loss to Adelaide.

As announced on Thursday, the Blues will be without star duo Sophie McKay (calf) and Keeley Sherar (quad), while former Saint Claudia Whitfort, Brooke Boileau and Nell Morris-Dalton will debut for the club.

After being named in the extended bench, Kiara Bischa, Aisling Reidy and Lily Baxter are the Blues' emergencies.
