WOODVILLE-West Torrens claimed the SANFLW premiership, one year after faltering on the big day, and Bond University has earned the right to compete against Southport for the QAFLW flag.

Ellie Gavalas, Renee Morgan, and Mizuki Brothwell all made their claim for AFLW selection across the VFLW, and Williamstown earned the minor premiership.

SANFLW

Woodville-West Torrens 9.4 (58) def. Norwood 3.8 (26)

Woodville-West Torrens avenged its 2025 Grand Final loss with a dominant showing on Saturday, claiming the 2026 SANFLW premiership.

Dominant key forward Klaudia O’Neill was awarded the best on ground medal for her five-goal turn to lead the Eagles, while teenaged midfielder Maia Freemantle – eligible for the 2027 Telstra AFLW draft – finished with 22 disposals, four inside 50s and four clearances. Ruck Leah Cutting (26 hitouts, 10 disposals) also confirmed her retirement upon the conclusion of the match, after deciding to play on this year despite announcing 2025 would be her last.

Young guns Lani Cocks (16 disposals, three tackles) and Mia Wood (10 disposals, three marks) tried hard for Norwood. Cocks is eligible for the 2027 draft, and Wood in 2028. Meanwhile Jade Halfpenny recorded 18 disposals, eight clearances, and 12 tackles in an effort to stem the tide.

QAFLW

Coorparoo 0.2 (2) def. by Bond University 7.8 (50)

Despite finishing second on the home and away ladder, Coorparoo has been bundled out of the QAFLW finals as Bond University won its way through to face Southport in the Grand Final.

Tegan Williams (three goals), Kendra Blattman (two), and Millar Brosnan-Ball (two) did the work on the scoreboard for the Bullsharks, as Kierra Zerafa (23 disposals, four marks) and Skye White (15 disposals, 28 hitouts) got busy higher up the field.

Jacinta Baldwick left everything out there for Coorparoo with 20 disposals in the loss.

Southport and Bond University will face off in the Grand Final on Sunday from 2:30pm at Brighton Homes Arena.

VFLW

Tasmania 6.6 (42) def. by Western Bulldogs 10.5 (65)

Seven AFLW-listed Bulldogs helped the side to a strong win over Tasmania ahead of finals next week.

Ellie Gavalas (26 disposals, two goals, nine tackles) starred across the day, and Mizuki Brothwell (24 disposals, 13 intercepts) was dominant in the back half of the ground.

Analea McKee kicked two goals from her eight touches, Amaia Wain’s ruckwork bore 38 hitouts and 16 disposals, and Louise Stephenson, Charlie O’Connor Moreira and Brooke Barwick all kicked majors in the win.

Ava Read kicked three goals from 13 disposals – all kicks – for Tasmania.

Collingwood 3.4 (22) def. by Williamstown 9.5 (59)

Williamstown locked in the minor premiership with an impressive win over 2025 Grand Finalist Collingwood.

A handful of AFLW-listed Pies ran out for the match, with netball convert Olivia Lewis (13 disposals, one goal, 15 hitouts) hitting the scoreboard. Georgia Knight (eight disposals) couldn’t get on the end of one as a small forward, and Irish recruit Ellie Brady (six disposals) is still getting used to the oval ball.

Lilly Pearce made a strong return from injury for the Gulls in time for finals, with 20 hitouts and five tackles, and favourite for the Lambert-Pearce medal Emily Eaves finished with 20 disposals, eight clearances, and a goal.

North Melbourne Werribee 11.2 (68) def. Box Hill 5.8 (38)

A six-goal final quarter from two-time reigning premier North Melbourne Werribee left Box Hill’s season on a sour note after a strong first three quarters.

Ruck Maddison Torpey (15 disposals, 23 hitouts, one goal) was handy for the Roos, as were Sarah Wall (five intercepts, three inside 50s) and Shauna McElligott (eight disposals, four tackles), while former Essendon and Gold Coast midfielder Alana Barba (31 disposals, 10 tackles, one goal) was the star.

Mackenzie Eardley made her return from an Achilles issue to record seven disposals for the Hawks, while Irishwoman Hannah Looney (four disposals, one goal), Maya Dear (two disposals), and Najwa Allen (six disposals, three tackles) had quiet days.

Lavinia Cox finished with 13 disposals, Niamh Martin hit the scoreboard, and Keely Coyne was dangerous in the thick of it with 16 disposals and six tackles.

Darebin 4.8 (32) drew with Essendon 4.8 (32)

Darebin and Essendon’s VFLW seasons ended in a stalemate on Saturday, with a late El Chaston goal equalising things with under a minute left on the clock.

Daria Bannister (seven disposals, three marks) came in for her first game at any level for the year, and Taya Chambers (17 disposals, five intercepts) performed well after being dropped from the AFLW side.

Chloe Adams recorded eight intercepts and 18 disposals working hard across the half-back line, ruck Courtney Murphy finished with 24 hitouts and 18 disposals, and youngster Sophie Strong (10 disposals, three tackles) continues to find her feet. Bess Keaney’s form on the way back from giving birth to her first child also remains strong, with 22 disposals and five marks for the day.

Isabella Daddo capped off a strong year with 22 disposals, eight tackles, and five clearances, and Caley Ryan (seven intercepts, 18 disposals, one goal) worked hard both ways for Darebin.

Geelong 5.8 (38) def. Port Melbourne 5.4 (34)

Geelong capped off a strong end to the season with an upset with over Port Melbourne.

Tough draftee Renee Morgan (24 disposals, 10 tackles, seven clearances) did her chances of an AFLW debut no harm, particularly with some injuries at the top level. Ruck Caitie Tipping (18 hitouts) is likely to get a call up with an injury to Piper Dunlop, while Annie Lee (15 disposals), Jasmin Stewart (14 disposals, four clearances), and Sienna Tallariti (12 disposals, four intercepts) all played their part.

Mia Caffry starred for Port Melbourne with 22 disposals and 13 clearances, while Irishwoman Emear Scally kicked two goals.

Casey 5.4 (34) def. by Sandringham 12.8 (80)

Both Casey and Sandringham’s VFLW seasons came to an end on Sunday, with a big Zebras win.

Kyla Forbes, typically a defender, kicked a goal from her seven disposals, and ruck duo Rene Caris (14 hitouts, one goal) and Emmelie Fiedler (31 hitouts, one goal) got forward and hit the scoreboard for Sandringham. Draftee Chelsea Sutton also finished with 11 disposals and four clearances.

For Casey, Alyssia Pisano (two goals) and Tahlia Fellows (one goal) got dangerous in attack, Aoife Horisk (11 disposals) started to get her run going, Lauren Clifton (six intercepts, 12 disposals) worked hard in defence, and Amelia Dethridge (10 disposals, four tackles) continued to develop.
