COLLINGWOOD quietly re-signed AFLW coach Sam Wright late last year, with the deal taking him through until at least 2027.
The extension separates Wright from fellow 0-5 AFLW coaches Natalie Wood at Essendon and Nick Dal Santo at St Kilda, who are both out of contract at season's end.
The move to extend Wright was not publicised at the time, but was organised to add a layer of protection for the third-year coach amid the club's rebuild.
The Pies have since started this season winless through their first five matches, with the powerhouse one of three teams alongside the Bombers and the Saints yet to win a match this year.
Pressure has subsequently built around Wright, Wood and Dal Santo's futures, with their three clubs currently all 0-5 and with percentages of less than 60.
Collingwood faces the 4-1 Geelong this weekend, while Essendon takes on a 3-2 Gold Coast and St Kilda faces the 1-4 West Coast.
As previously revealed on AFL.com.au, concerns around the direction of Collingwood's AFLW program has started to emanate from within the playing group after the side's winless start to the campaign.
A number of the club's best players, including captain Ruby Schleicher, are uncontracted at season's end, with the lack of progress in talks on extensions starting to catch the attention of rival clubs.
