BRISBANE AFLW high performance manager Matt Green served a one-match boundary-line ban during Sunday's QClash loss to Gold Coast at Brighton Homes Arena.
A complaint was raised following Brisbane's round seven loss to Sydney at Henson Park regarding alleged "conduct unbecoming" by Green while performing his bench duties.
The ban is understood to have related to language used by Green. The comments were not directed at any individual and were allegedly made under Green's breath before being overheard.
As a result of the sanction, Green was unable to perform his usual gameday duties during the QClash, instead operating from the coaches' box while assistant coach Phil Lovett took his place on the bench.
While the AFL confirmed a complaint had been received, it did not disclose the specific comments involved.
Brisbane confirmed Green had apologised to the AFL, the Swans and the club internally for his actions, while Sydney confirmed it was not the source of the complaint.
Green oversees the Lions' AFLW fitness and conditioning program and has held the role since Brisbane's women's football program was formed in 2016.
The incident comes during a difficult season for the Lions, who have won just two of their eight matches and sit 14th on the ladder heading into the final month of the home and away season.
The club has endured significant injury challenges throughout the campaign, with several senior players sidelined at various stages.
Brisbane also lost its inaugural head of women's football, Breeanna Brock, to Adelaide during the off-season, while assistant coach Ryan Davis also departed for the Crows to take up a senior coaching role.
