SCANS have confirmed star Gold Coast recruit Sarah Perkins ruptured her MCL against West Coast, and she has been ruled out for the remainder of the season.

Lively first-year Maddison Levi has escaped serious injury after hyper-extending her knee but will require a week on the sidelines for the swelling to settle.

Veteran Leah Kaslar (rolled ankle) and midfielder Georgia Bevan (shin) are both tests for this weekend's match against Adelaide.

Just over a third of West Coast's AFLW squad is on the injury list, but a host of players will be tested ahead of this weekend's Derby against Fremantle.

Midfielders Aisling McCarthy (knee), Brianna Green (ankle) and Emma Swanson (shoulder), forwards Andrea Gilmore (concussion) and Imahra Cameron (knee) and defenders Kate Orme (finger) and Sophie McDonald (hand) will all need to pass tests to play.

The news isn't as good for Tayla Bresland, who suffered a hamstring injury against the Suns, with the key back ruled out for 2-3 weeks. Draftee Julie-Anne Norrish (groin) is looking at a similar timeline.

Club champion Dana Hooker (foot) is out for the season, while there is no timeframe on the versatile Beatrice Devlyn's hamstring.

AFLW TEAM OF THE WEEK Round five

Carlton co-captain Katie Loynes is hopeful of a return this week, having had two weeks on the sidelines with a hip complaint/general soreness.

Speedster Brooke Walker is just one week away, having missed the season so far with a foot injury, while Brooke Vernon is sidelined for another 1-2 weeks with a calf complaint.

The injury list at Adelaide is growing, but thankfully, they're all short-term complaints.

Hannah Munyard (calf), Rachelle Martin (shins), Deni Varnhagen (quad), Maddy Newman (shoulder) and Eloise Jones (injured her shoulder in last week's match) are tests, while Dayna Cox (hamstring) – who is yet to play this season – is 1-2 weeks away.

Fremantle's rehab group is shrinking by the week, with long-term pair Ann McMahon (broken leg and ACL) and Alex Williams (ACL and wrist) playing in the WAFLW last weekend.

Recruit Tarnee Tester (knee) and draftee Mikayla Morrison (illness) remain 2-3 weeks away, while the luckless Aine Tighe (knee) is indefinite.

Inactive player Jess Trend – who had a personal opportunity which would have seriously curtailed her availability for pre-season – is currently skippering Hawthorn's VFLW side, but suffered a torn ACL over the weekend.

St Kilda will be sweating on the fitness of speedy pair Nat Exon (groin) and Kate McCarthy (concussion), who will need to get through training this week in order to play.

Forward Jacqui Vogt has a broken finger and is out for the week, while Molly McDonald (quad) and Selena Karlson (Achilles) will also be cooling their heels this weekend.

Equal-best and fairest winner Liv Vesely remains two weeks away with a calf injury, having not yet played this season due to the injury.

Veteran defender Meg Downie is edging closer to a return for Melbourne, just one week away after injuring her ankle in a practice match.

There are two longer-term injuries on GWS' list, with veteran defender Tanya Hetherington sidelined for the next 4-6 weeks after suffering a medial ankle injury against Gold Coast in round three.

Brid Stack is now out of her neck brace after fracturing her C7 vertebra in a practice match and has started some light jogging, but there is no timeline on her return.

It's a fairly clear injury list at Richmond, with midfielder Alana Woodward 1-2 weeks away with an ongoing calf complaint. Untried ruck Cleo Saxon-Jones missed last week's VFLW match with concussion.

The blows keep coming at Geelong, winless and bottom of the ladder with the team's best two players sidelined with ACL injuries. Nina Morrison remains "indefinite" as she nears the 12-month mark of her rehab, while Liv Purcell is out for the season.

Earlier this week, the Western Bulldogs confirmed Deanna Berry had ruptured her ACL and would be sidelined for the remainder of the season, as did Brisbane for its midfielder Lily Postlethwaite.

The Dogs will also be without veteran Lauren Spark for the season, who needs surgery on an ankle injury suffered in the VFLW, while Ange Gogos (ankle) is 2-3 weeks away.

Collingwood also lost Jordan Membrey to a torn ACL, while Ash Brazill still has no timeline on her return from her own torn ACL, having just ticked over the 12-month mark since the injury.

Abbey Green (knee) and Sarah Rowe (shoulder) remain two weeks away.

It's relatively smooth sailing at North Melbourne after escaping any injuries against Carlton, with just Britt Gibson (hamstring), Sarah Wright (broken arm) and father-daughter signing Amy Smith (ankle) on the sidelines. Vivien Saad will miss this week due to a one-match suspension for forceful front-on contact on Tayla Harris.
