FREMANTLE'S demolition Derby win over West Coast has resulted in four nominations in the womens.afl team of the week.

Carlton returned to the winner's list, and saw three players named, while Lauren Pearce's astonishing 22-disposal, 21-hitout effort meant she was a lock for the ruck role.

The team is selected to mirror the All-Australian side: five defenders, six midfielders (including a ruck), five forwards and five interchange players.  

Like the All-Australian team, it has players selected in general categories, rather than in traditional positions. The 16-a-side set-up often means teams play with varying configurations, making set selections (e.g wings and flanks) difficult.

Lauren Ahrens (Gold Coast), Kerryn Harrington (Carlton), Kate Lutkins (Brisbane), Meg McDonald (Geelong), Hannah Priest (St Kilda)

Lutkins (19 disposals, 553m gained) was outstanding coming out of defence, Ahrens (18, eight intercepts, seven marks) was outstanding in a tough day for the Suns, while Priest (17, 10 intercepts) read the play well against the Dees.

Harrington (22 touches, 10 intercepts) ate up every stray disposal that came her way and McDonald (16 and 13 intercepts) did the same at the other end.

MIDFIELDERS

Lauren Pearce (Melbourne, ruck), Ebony Antonio (Fremantle), Brianna Davey (Collingwood), Ali Drennan (Gold Coast), Jasmine Garner (North Melbourne), Maddy Prespakis (Carlton), 

Pearce is back to her best after a tough 2020, dominating with 22 disposals, 21 hitouts and five clearances.

Antonio ran riot on the wing and pushed hard forward, amassing 23 disposals and nine marks and Prespakis (28, seven score involvements, six clearances) clearly had some steam to burn off after her one-match suspension.

Davey (28 touches, eight inside 50s, seven tackles) and Garner (22, seven intercepts, five clearances) kicked a goal each, while Drennan (29, seven tackles, five clearances) was tireless against a tough Crows outfit.

FORWARDS

Sabreena Duffy (Fremantle), Gemma Houghton (Fremantle), Chloe Molloy (Collingwood), Erin Phillips (Adelaide), Danielle Ponter (Adelaide)

Houghton (15 disposals, five goals, seven marks) was once again a 'Gem' for the Dockers, while teammate Duffy (15 disposals, 402m gained, 3.2) had a well-rounded game.

Phillips (19, seven marks, two goals) has her forward-mid hybrid role down to a tee, Ponter (10 disposals, 4.3) was a chance to break Brooke Lochland's seven-goal haul and Molloy (12 disposals, six score involvements, two goals) helped get the Pies going in the second half.

Another Western Derby medal, another TOTW nomination for Bowers, who finished with 24 disposals, nine clearances and five intercepts.

Bates (20 touches, five clearances, three marks) and Egan (24, six clearances and four tackles) were crucial to their sides' big wins.

Gilroy (17 disposals, seven intercepts) put in another strong performance off half-back, while Pearce (13, seven score involvements, two goals) was a surprise star up forward.
