A FINAL-ROUND match against Carlton provided Greater Western Sydney a perfect scouting opportunity.

The Giants had got word co-captain Katie Loynes was set to be delisted by the Blues, and were eager to cash in on her experience and drive.

Jess Dal Pos, Elle Bennetts and Aimee Schmidt had indicated to head of women's footy Briana Harvey they were keen to return to their home state.

"We obviously needed to replace a lot of the experience that had gone out. Interestingly enough, I had heard Katie Loynes was not going to be retained by Carlton the following year at the game we were playing Carlton," Harvey told Credit to the Girls podcast.

"I said to Al (McConnell, coach), to have a bit of a look at her and see what he thought, because we obviously think she still has a lot to give in the game.

"She's so competitive, and we thought she was one of the best on ground against us."

Harvey also discussed the additions of Chloe Dalton and Jasmine Grierson, Bríd Stack's decision to return after a tough debut year and the club's finals aspirations.

Credit to the Girls is in the midst of an off-season mini-series, with each of the 14 clubs put under the microscope around trade and the draft.
