BRISBANE has lost 2019 captain Leah Kaslar to AFLW expansion club Gold Coast.

It's a massive blow for the Lions, with the 33-year-old telling the club her decision was based on "work and lifestyle reasons".

"Unfortunately, we have lost (Kaslar) to the expansion club, the Gold Coast Suns, so that's sad for us but we fully understand Leah's situation where she's got a very hectic work life/schedule at the moment with her job," coach Craig Starcevich told the club's website.

"She travels up the highway to come and train with us three to four times a week which is not great for her body.

"While it's sad for us, with our blessing, she joins an expansion club, she's been an amazing ambassador for female footy in Queensland now for many, many years."

In further bad news for the Lions, Sam Virgo will follow Kaslar out the door, with the 2019 vice-captain accepting an offer from the Suns.

Virgo was with the Lions from 2017, but missed most of 2018 recovering from a serious knee injury.

The Suns also confirmed they had signed young Lion Jacqui Yorston.
