TWO PREMIERSHIP favourites in Collingwood and Melbourne will face off in a practice match this Saturday at Casey Fields, which is open to the public.

All AFLW teams will play their sole official practice game this weekend – some of which will be open to the public – before going on leave for a week-long Christmas break.

Reigning premier Brisbane and neighbouring Gold Coast play the first practice match on Friday night, while GWS will be the sole team to travel interstate, taking on Adelaide on Saturday.

In the remaining Victorian games, Carlton is hosting St Kilda at Ikon Park, North Melbourne will take a short trip to VU Whitten Oval to play the Western Bulldogs, while Geelong will come up the highway to take on Richmond.

West Coast and Fremantle have taken a slightly different approach, playing each other on Tuesday evening to round out the practice match action.

Round one action then kicks off on January 7 with St Kilda and Richmond opening the season.
