On the eve of Collingwood’s 2009 finals campaign, head coach Mick Malthouse is set to break several coaching finals milestones.

Most Finals Series Coached
Malthouse will coach in his 19th separate finals series in 2009, across his career with Footscray, West Coast and now Collingwood. This takes him equal with Kevin Sheedy in second spot for the most finals series by a coach, behind only Collingwood coaching legend Jock McHale.

The leading coaches into finals series are Jock McHale (27 seasons with Collingwood between 1912-49), Kevin Sheedy (19 seasons with Essendon between 1981-2007), Michael Malthouse (18 seasons with Footscray, West Coast and Collingwood between 1984-2009), Allan Jeans (17 seasons with St Kilda and Hawthorn between 1961-1990) and Dick Reynolds (16 seasons with Essendon between 1939-60).
