HAWTHORN defender Ben Stratton has played down his tangle with West Coast veteran Andrew Embley on Friday night, describing it as "a bit of fun".

Embley appears likely to be scrutinised by the Match Review Panel over the incident, in which he dropped both knees into the 24-year-old Hawk's chest during the second quarter of the Etihad Stadium clash.

But Stratton said he was not hurt, and Embley's actions had in fact helped him lift his game.

"It was a bit of fun; he just dropped the knee from about five foot up, right in the sternum," a smiling Stratton told AFL.com.au after the match.

"I tackled him and we both sort of stayed on the ground, and I ended up on the bottom.

"I was just trying to get him to give me a hand up, and he sort of fell on me.

"It was all good.

"It revved me up and got me in the game.

"I think we scored a goal after that, so I went over and thanked him."

Eagles coach John Worsfold, when asked if he was concerned about the incident, said: "The fact that you're raising it with me, yeah, I'm concerned.

"But I haven't seen it, so it will run its course."

Hawthorn coach Alastair Clarkson said he had not seen what happened.
