BRISBANE Lions midfielder Brent Moloney could miss the next two matches after scans on Tuesday revealed minor damage to his calf.

Moloney was subbed out early in the third quarter of Saturday night's QClash win against Gold Coast, and is all but certain to miss this weekend's match against North Melbourne at the Gabba.

The injury could also keep him out of the Lions' round 17 match against his former team Melbourne in Darwin.

Moloney's loss adds to the Lions' midfield woes, with Brownlow medallist Simon Black still trying to overcome a groin injury.

Black did not play against the Suns and is listed as still being one week away on the Lions' injury list, meaning he's also likely to sit out against the Kangaroos.

In other news, rebounding defender Sam Docherty is an outside chance of returning after missing last week's match with a back concern.

Docherty was initially expected to be sidelined for up to three matches, but could return as soon as this weekend pending a fitness test.

Stefan Martin has suffered a minor setback in his return from an ankle injury, after tweaking his hamstring late last week.

Martin was expected to play his first match in almost three months with the Lions reserves on Saturday, but will instead have to wait at least another two weeks.
