North Melbourne's Majak Daw starred for Werribee in its 56-point win over Casey at Avalon Airport Oval on Sunday, dominating in the ruck with 50 hit-outs and 20 possessions.

With key forward Robbie Tarrant (knee) in doubt for North's clash with Carlton on Friday night, Daw's performance was timely.

North defender Scott McMahon is also a good chance of being recalled for the Blues clash after impressing in defence for Werribee, while former Demon Jordan Gysberts gave the Tigers a lot of drive in the midfield.

For Casey, Jesse Hogan continued to whet Melbourne supporters' appetites as they await his impending debut next season, kicking three goals.

Former Kangaroo Cameron Pedersen was Casey's best player, with his Demon teammates James Strauss and Dom Barry also strong performers.

Forgotten Sydney Swan Gary Rohan made a successful return to football on Sunday, kicking two goals in the second half of the Swans' reserves game against the UWS Giants at the SCG.

Almost 15 months after he suffered a badly broken leg in a collision with North Melbourne's Lindsay Thomas, Rohan came on early in the third quarter and showed some good signs.

Used in eight-minute bursts off the bench, Rohan finished with nine possessions and three marks, and showed he had not lost his trademark pace or appetite for the contest.

The Giants won the clash by 63 points with small forward Nathan Wilson (three goals), defender Matthew Buntine and rookie Zac Williams leading the way.

Rookies Daniel Robinson and Jake Lloyd were the Swans' best players.

SANFL
Adelaide's Sam Kerridge was outstanding in Sturt's 22-point win over the Port Adelaide Magpies on Sunday, racking up 29 possessions, six clearances, four inside 50s and kicking a goal.

Crows teammate Richard Tambling (24 possessions and eight inside 50s) was also one of Sturt's best players, along with Port Adelaide defender Jack Hombsch.

Hombsch's Power teammates Brendon Ah Chee (19 possessions and three clearances) and Ben Newton (18 and five) were among the Magpies' best, along with recently retired Crow Graham Johncock (four goals).

WAFL
West Coast rookie Jamie Bennell was the standout AFL-listed player in the WAFL on Saturday, leading Swan Districts to a 39-point win over Claremont.

Although Eagles teammate Murray Newman's quarter-time walkout grabbed the headlines after the match, Bennell had 23 possessions against the Tigers as he continues his recovery from the knee reconstruction that ended his 57-game career at Melbourne.

In the WAFL's other round 17 game, West Coast teammates Fraser McInnes and Callum Sinclair put in solid performances for Perth and Subiaco respectively. Key forward McInnes took seven marks and kicked 1.2 in Perth's 26-point win, while rookie Sinclair had 18 possessions, eight marks and kicked 1.1.

Gold Coast veteran Nathan Bock has signaled a return to senior football is imminent after a nine-goal haul in the Suns' reserves side on Saturday.

Bock has not played senior football since suffering a broken leg against Fremantle in round six last season.

But a run of solid reserves games, capped by Saturday's standout effort, has Bock primed for a place back in the Suns' team.

The former Crow booted the tying goal with just minutes to go to salvage a draw against Aspley with both sides locked on 109 when the siren rang.

Brisbane Lions key forward Jordan Lisle almost topped Bock's performance, slamming through seven goals and collecting 37 possessions in his club's big win over Redland.

Fellow forward Aaron Cornelius also booted three majors in the 78-point rout.

SANFL
Adelaide's Lewis Johnston was the standout performer in the SANFL on Saturday, in just his second game back from a serious knee injury.

Johnston, who has played just three AFL games (one for Adelaide and two for the Sydney Swans), gathered 29 disposals, 17 hit-outs, eight marks, six clearances and three goals in a dominant display for North Adelaide.

The 22-year-old Crow was nominated as a potential replacement for Taylor Walker after an impressive start to the year, before the long-term injury setback.

Potential top-five draft pick Matthew Scharenberg collected 22 disposals to be among Glenelg's best, despite the loss to the Roosters.

Port Adelaide defender Sam Colquhoun led the way for Central Districts with 24 touches in his club's win over South Adelaide.

Crows forward Ian Callinan also had 21 disposals for the Bulldogs.

Luke Thompson collected 17 touches, while teammate Jared Petrenko was assisted off the ground by trainers in the first quarter with a suspected concussion.

VFL
St Kilda's Seb Ross has put himself in the frame for a senior recall, gathering 30 disposals and five marks in Sandringham's 15-point win over Williamstown.

Tom Ledger was another important contributor with 27 touches and two goals.

Western Bulldogs-listed pair Patrick Veszpremi (three goals) and Tom Campbell (two) were among the best for Williamstown.
