WEST Coast forward Mark LeCras has laughed off suggestions his armguard is behind his indifferent season.

The 26-year-old sharpshooter broke his right wrist in round one and has kicked 25.24 in front of goal for the year.

It marks a sharp drop on his career accuracy of 66 per cent prompting theories his armguard, designed to protect his wrist, has affected him.

LeCras joked he was the source of the theory.

"I think when I started missing a few I started that rumour," LeCras said.

"I cut [the armguard] down six weeks ago so it's pretty lightweight.

"It's not really bothering me at the moment. I'll probably have to play with it for the rest of the year. I don't think about it too much."

LeCras kicked 2.1 in Sunday's 28-point loss to Fremantle, the Eagles' third loss from their past four matches.

West Coast sits 10th on the ladder, one game out of eighth spot, with matches against the Swans, Essendon, Geelong and Collingwood still to come.

"We need to win every game [to make the finals] and we're going into every game now looking at it as if we need to win it," LeCras said.

"It's going to be a massive challenge."

That challenge starts with the reigning premier the Sydney Swans on Sunday at Patersons Stadium.

LeCras believes the match will be played much the same way as the Western Derby.

"I think it's definitely going to be a similar game. Sydney like to get numbers around the footy," he said.

"Hopefully we can take something out of that [Fremantle game] and improve on it … I think there will definitely be a fair few tackles."

West Coast laid an extraordinary 60 tackles in the first half against Fremantle, and 86 for the match.

LeCras felt the Eagles' form over the past month has been up to standard.

"You're never happy to lose but I think we're headed in the right direction," LeCras said.

"I think the attitude over the past month and the intensity that we've played our footy at has been exciting."
