DANIEL Kerr needs to bring more than just strong stoppage work if he is to regain his place in the West Coast line-up, coach John Worsfold says.

Kerr was available for selection against the Swans, having missed two matches due to cracked ribs and knee soreness, but was asked to play WAFL for East Fremantle on Saturday to find both fitness and form.

"Really his performances the previous couple of games he played for us he was struggling to play the footy we need him to play," Worsfold said in the aftermath of West Coast's 34-point loss to the Swans.

"While he does his good stoppage work other players are having to pick up the slack around the ground.

"So Daniel needs to be up and being able to run and play offensive and defensive footy as well as just be good at stoppages."

Worsfold's criticism of Kerr was pointed given he was also reported in his WAFL appearance.

The Eagles veteran gathered 31 possessions in East Fremantle's win over Subiaco but will have to face the WAFL judiciary this week.

"I haven't seen the incident," Worsfold said.

"I won't even comment on what I've heard about it.

"It sounds OK but it's not my call to make. We'll wait and see when the process goes through."

Worsfold said that his 220-game premiership star was no guarantee to return to the line-up next Sunday to face the Western Bulldogs even if cleared of the WAFL report.

"Potentially we get Scott Selwood back next week, maybe," Worsfold said.

"And then we've got to make the call on if we think Daniel's going to be able to run games out well enough, adding him in as well.

"Is one hit out enough for him to run at AFL level like he needs to be able to run?

"We'll go through all that throughout the week once we know where we sit with it all."
