GREATER Western Sydney co-captain Callan Ward says his 'gut feel' is that Lance Franklin will be at the Giants next season.

The Hawthorn forward has chosen to wait until season's end before making a decision on his playing future, with reports the expansion club has offered him a deal worth $1.5 million per year.

Ward conceded he was none the wiser about Franklin's situation, but believed the Hawthorn superstar could be on the move in 2014.

"My gut feel is probably yes, but I would have no idea," Ward told SEN Radio on Wednesday.

"I hope he does. He's obviously a great player. He's extremely talented. I think at the Giants he will be great for us."

Franklin would be the latest addition to a wealth of power forwards at the Giants, with Jeremy Cameron and Jonathon Patton already on the list.

A knee reconstruction has forced Patton to watch on from the sidelines this year, but Ward said the former No.1 draft pick was making good progress in his recovery.

"He's doing really well, Johnny," Ward said.

"He started to run on Monday, which was a really good sign. I think he did two or three laps of the oval, which was great to see."
