NORTH Melbourne veteran Brent Harvey is improving with age and could play on for another two years, teammate Ryan Bastinac says.

Kangaroos coach Brad Scott is also "pretty confident" Harvey will play on next season.

Harvey amassed a game-high 37 disposals – the fifth-best effort of his 358-game career – along with five clearances and five tackles in the Kangaroos' upset 10-point win over Geelong at Etihad Stadium on Friday night.

The 35-year-old was particularly instrumental in setting up the Roos' 20-point lead at half-time, by which time he'd gathered 24 touches, including an astounding 21 uncontested.

The masterclass from the diminutive Harvey prompted Adelaide superstar Patrick Dangerfield to tweet: "Forget drug testing. Test @Boomer_29 age! No way this bloke is 35 #Benjaminbutton".

Harvey, who missed the opening six rounds through suspension, is averaging 24.4 disposals in 11 appearances this season. He has dropped below 19 touches just once, and has also kicked 17 goals.

Bastinac believes Harvey could stretch his illustrious career to 20 seasons and beyond 400 games.

"I don’t know if it's possible, but he just seems to keep getting better with age," Bastinac told AFL.com.au.

"He's still one of the best players in the competition, even with how old he is.

"We all want him to play for as long as he can. We love having him in our team because when he plays like that we usually win.

"We really missed him when he missed the first six games (with suspension) and he's continued to be a vital player for us.

"He's an absolute superstar. He's not slowing down, he keeps racking up the numbers and keeps having a real influence, so why wouldn’t he keep going?

"We all mention 400 games to him. It would be nice if he could get there. It's obviously up to him and how his body is feeling, but the way he's playing he could easily play for another two years."

Scott also believes the club's games record holder is still an important part of the Roos' future.

"I've certainly made my thoughts clear at list management (meetings),” Scott said in his post-match press conference.

“I'm only one vote though, but I hope it’s a pretty important vote.

"How could you argue with his performances so far this year? He's just an amazing athlete with really fortunate genetics. But to suggest it's just genetics is unfair, because he prepares himself to play AFL footy like no one I've ever seen."
