ST KILDA players have made a video, apologising to club members for Clint Jones' Mad Monday prank earlier this week.

Captain Nick Riewoldt, vice-captain Lenny Hayes and young star Jack Steven spoke on the short video, which was shot outside the Saints' Seaford headquarters.

Jones also was in the team video, but did not talk.

Jones apologised and paid a $3000 fine for setting a dwarf entertainer on fire at their end-of-season function.

"On behalf of the players, I want to say sorry for the disappointment and embarrassment our end-of-season actions have caused all St Kilda people," Riewoldt said in the short video message.

Hayes added: "It's not the St Kilda you want, it's not the St Kilda we want.

"Our commitment is it's going to look different."

Then Steven finished with: "Stay with us - we going to make you proud to be a member of the Saints."

It has been reported that St Kilda players will not drink at Friday night's club best and fairest function and have dropped plans for an after party.

"There has been a lot of soul-searching this week and we have had some very frank discussions about what type of legacy this group wants to leave at St Kilda," club chief executive Michael Nettlefold was quoted as saying.

"The players are far from pleased about what has happened and the response has been driven by them.

"The place is pretty flat at the moment after behaviour that we and they consider unacceptable.

"We all have to accept responsibility, act on it and then build for the future."

The paper also reported several players had cancelled a post-season holiday in Thailand.
