A CRUNCH meeting next week between Stewart Crameri and Essendon could decide the half-forward's future.

AFL.com.au understands the Bombers will meet with the out-of-contract 25-year-old, with Crameri believed to be considering joining the Western Bulldogs on a "monster" offer.

He returned from an overseas trip last week.

The Bulldogs have tabled a four-year deal worth up to $1.8 million, which far exceeds the terms available at the Bombers, believed to be approximately $1.1 million over three years.

Their three-year deal came last week, having previously proposed only a two-year term mid-season.

When the Bulldogs approached the Crameri camp earlier this year, which AFL.com.au revealed in June, Crameri was set on staying at Essendon.

But, three weeks from this year's trade period, he is yet to come to a firm decision on his future after a disappointing second half of the season.

He struggled to return from an ankle injury and had to find form and fitness in the VFL, but still led the Bombers' goalkicking for the third straight year.

The coaching situation at both clubs could also form part of his decision.

Essendon is without suspended coach James Hird for almost all of next season, while the Bulldogs are building under Brendan McCartney, whom Crameri shared a close relationship in 2011 while McCartney was the Bombers' forward line assistant.

Last week Essendon list manager Adrian Dodoro said Crameri had showed his desire to stay at the club through negotiations.

"Stew Crameri has indicated all the way through that he would prefer to stay with us and we have offered him a three-year deal," Dodoro said.

"We have increased our offer but he does have a monster offer put in front of him from a rival club.

"We need to respect that and he needs to make a decision."
