RICHMOND has reaffirmed its faith in Brad Helbig, with the injury-plagued midfielder set to re-sign with the Tigers for 2014.

As Richmond finalises its 2014 list ahead of the December 2 deadline, AFL.com.au understands it has agreed to terms with Helbig for next season, with a contract expected to be signed next week.

Helbig, 21, came out of contract at the end of the 2013 season, a year when he played just one senior game, in round five against Fremantle.

Helbig suffered a hamstring injury in that game that ruled him out for the next three rounds and he spent the remainder of the season in the VFL.

He was on the verge of breaking back into the Tigers' team as the finals approached, having been named an emergency for their round 21 clash with Carlton, but suffered a season-ending ankle injury in the VFL a week later.

Helbig has played just 16 games in three seasons at Richmond since being selected with pick No.47 in the 2010 NAB AFL Draft.

When fit, the South Australian is quick, courageous and a fierce tackler.

He made his debut in round one, 2011, and went on to play 10 games in an encouraging first season.

In 2012, an early-season left foot injury sidelined Helbig for two months before he returned to play the Tigers' final five games of the year.
