FOOTY fans are in for a treat this year, with Melbourne's human highlight reel Jeremy Howe expecting to cement himself in attack alongside young gun Jesse Hogan.

Howe earned five nominations for the 2013 Lifebroker Mark of the Year, dazzling spectators with his high-flying exploits on an almost weekly basis.

Howe told Melbourne's website he expected to be used as a forward under Paul Roos, after spending much of 2013 playing across the midfield.

“Any backline should be pretty worried when you’ve got (Chris) Dawes, (Mitch) Clark and (Jesse) Hogan … they’re big boys, all quite tall and extremely heavy … I can play as a fourth medium-tall,” Howe said.

“I get the pick of the fourth or fifth defender, so I think it’ll add a lot of variation.

“That’s where the majority of my footy will be played. It’ll definitely put the opposition defenders under the pump, when we get it in there.

“I’m also looking forward to mastering that role up forward, which will hopefully give me a good year.”

The Demons used the 2013 trade and draft period to bolster their midfield, adding Daniel Cross (Western Bulldogs), Viv Michie (Fremantle), Aidan Riley (Adelaide), Dom Tyson (GWS) and Bernie Vince (Adelaide) via trades and free agency, and drafting young midfielders Christian Salem (pick 9), Jay Kennedy-Harris (pick 40) and Jayden Hunt (pick 57).

Howe is hopeful this group will help him lock down a position in Melbourne's forward line.

“I definitely feel like I’m much more experienced in the forward line than I am in the midfield at AFL level anyway," Howe said.

"I’m looking forward to that role and mixing it up, as well … [I'll] have the best of both worlds.”
