DARREN Glass says he is unsure whether 2014 will be his last year.
The key defender is on the verge of beginning his 15th AFL season, and his seventh as West Coast captain.
The 32-year-old signed a one-year deal with the Eagles late last season but he doesn't know if this will be his final year.
"It could be," Glass said.
"I've been saying that for the last three or four years that it could be and I really don't know. I wouldn't make a call until well into the season and see how things are tracking.
"(We'll see) where the team is at (and) how I'm tracking mentally and physically. Of course the club has a say as well."
Glass was a unanimous choice among West Coast players to remain captain in 2014 and he's now 18 games shy of breaking John Worsfold's club record of 138 matches as Eagles skipper.
He has two new vice-captains, with Scott Selwood and Josh Kennedy taking over the role Beau Waters relinquished due to his ongoing shoulder injury.
Glass believes Waters made the right decision to stand down.
"It was Beau's decision," Glass said.
"He came and spoke to us about it and I think it was the right call.
"He's had an unbelievably unlucky run with injuries and there is a time and a place where he's just got to focus on getting himself right and ready to go and I think that's the best thing for the team."
The four-time All Australian is anticipating he will play in the majority of the pre-season matches as the Eagles try to weigh up giving opportunities to younger players against preparing their established stars for round one.
"I'll probably play a fair bit," Glass said.
"We've got a couple of practice matches. It's a bit hard to make it too planned with injuries and all those things coming into it but I'll play some footy."
