FREMANTLE star Nat Fyfe could miss his side's Grand Final rematch with Hawthorn after being hit with a two-week ban by the Match Review Panel.
And the Dockers look set for a double blow, with key defender Zac Dawson handed a one-week suspension for tripping.
Fyfe was charged with a level two rough conduct offence after his bump floored Gold Coast's Michael Rischitelli in Saturday night's win over the Suns
Both players left the field after the head clash, however the Dockers midfielder initiated contact with Rischitelli, choosing to bump instead of tackle as Rischitelli kicked the ball.
It drew 225 demerit points which, due to his previous poor record, remains at a two-week penalty even with an early plea. It was assessed as negligent conduct, medium impact and high contact.
Fyfe already had 50 carryover points from last year after being charged with kicking Richmond's Daniel Jackson. He challenged the original one-week suspension for the Jackson charge but failed to have it overturned and missed two matches.
That pushed Fyfe's sanction for the Rischitelli charge to 275 points, meaning an early plea will reduce it to 206.25 points - still a two-week suspension.
The 22-year-old, who is the equal-second favourite for the Brownlow Medal, is the first player to be charged under the AFL's revamped view on high bumps.
In the League's rule changes in 2014, players "will ordinarily be liable" if they elect to bump and a head clash results.
The regulations say the player will be guilty of rough conduct unless he was contesting the ball and had no other realistic alternative to contest it, or the head contact was caused by circumstances "outside the control of the player".
Dawson, who has 60 carryover points for a coat-hanger on Geelong's Mathew Stokes last year, was charged with tripping Gold Coast's Brandon Matera.
Because of Dawson's poor record he can accept a one-match suspension with an early plea. The trip was assessed as reckless, low impact and body contact.
It is a setback for the Dockers, who will travel to the MCG to take on the Hawks on Friday night after two wins to start the season.
If he accepts the ban, Fyfe will also miss Freo's clash with Essendon in round four.
Fyfe was close to best on ground in Fremantle's round-one win over Collingwood, and gathered 29 disposals against the Suns at the weekend.
According to TAB Sportsbet, Fyfe is a $9 favourite for the Brownlow, equal with Collingwood's Scott Pendlebury, Geelong's Joel Selwood and Essendon's Jobe Watson.
Gold Coast champion and reigning Brownlow medallist Gary Ablett is the $6 favourite.
