WESTERN Bulldogs defender Dale Morris has been cleared of any serious damage to his sprained left ankle but he remains an uncertain prospect to face Carlton in round five.

Initial fears were that Morris had sustained a broken leg when he collided with Greater Western Sydney midfielder Will Hoskin-Elliott.

Both players were substituted out of the game after their collision.

The Bulldogs will sweat on Morris' fitness for the club's clash with Carlton on Sunday, with their defence already missing Jordan Roughead who is sidelined with a shoulder injury.

Roughead is expected back in two months, but until then the pressure is set to be heaped on Tom Williams.

Williams, who has been plagued by injury through his career, was excellent in the Dogs' 27-point win over the Giants in Canberra on Saturday.

The Bulldogs also have young key defenders Michael Talia and Fletcher Roberts to call upon should Morris struggles to come up for the game against the Blues.
