BRENTON Sanderson has swung the selection axe ahead of Thursday night's clash with Collingwood, dropping four players from the side that suffered a shock loss to Melbourne by three points in round seven.

Brent Reilly, Jared Petrenko, Sam Shaw and Mitch Grigg have all been omitted, while Tom Lynch (fractured jaw) is out injured after his clash with Jack Viney.

Headlining the inclusions for the sell-out match at Adelaide Oval is key forward Taylor Walker, who is back for his first AFL game since undergoing a right knee reconstruction.

Midfielder Richard Douglas returns from suspension, while veteran defender Ben Rutten, first-gamer Charlie Cameron and Brodie Martin also come into the side.

Reilly will have to wait to play his 200th game after being left out, in a decision Crows coach Sanderson labelled possibly the toughest of his tenure.

Star midfielder Patrick Dangerfield has overcome an ankle injury – which was protected in a moon boot last week – to take his place.

Collingwood will welcome back former skipper Nick Maxwell, defender Alan Toovey and Clinton Young.

The trio replaces the omitted Josh Thomas, Taylor Adams and Ben Kennedy.
