ST KILDA midfielder Jarryn Geary has agreed to terms for a new two-year contract with the club.
The 26-year-old, who was due to become a free agent at the end of this season, is set to stick with the Saints until the end of 2016.
His manager Anthony McConville, of Mac's Sports, confirmed Geary had come to terms for the extension, saying the defender was pleased with the club's direction.
As a free agent, Geary has been linked with other clubs but is seen as an important part of St Kilda's list rebuild.
He has played only seven games this season after requiring surgery for torn ligaments in his elbow, which he injured against Hawthorn in round seven, in what was Geary's 100th game.
The courageous defender finished sixth in the Saints' best and fairest in 2012, and improved that effort last year, when he finished fourth, turning himself into a valuable run-with midfielder.
Geary is a member of St Kilda's leadership group, with his influence sorely missed during his injury lay-off.
