FREMANTLE forward Hayden Ballantyne will undergo surgery to repair a broken jaw, but the Dockers have not ruled him out of Saturday's cut-throat semi-final against Port Adelaide.

The All Australian nominee suffered the injury in an accidental clash during Saturday's 24-point loss to the Sydney Swans at ANZ Stadium.

"It was a typically courageous performance by Hayden to play out the game with the injury," football manager Chris Bond said.

"Hayden hasn’t been ruled out of Saturday’s game at this stage and will have to satisfy our medical staff about his fitness before he can be considered for selection."

Ballantyne underwent minor jaw surgery earlier this season after a clash with Port's Jarman Impey in round eight.

However, he recovered to play against Geelong the following week.
