WEST Coast has added Elliot Yeo to its lengthy medical list after the utility suffered a setback with his broken hand at training last week.

Yeo underwent a fresh bout of surgery on Wednesday on the hand he broke during the Eagles' round 13 clash against Gold Coast.

The 21-year-old is unlikely to return to full training with West Coast's main group until the New Year.

The injury comes after Yeo impressed by running 6.31 in the Eagles' 2km time trial on Monday.

The former Brisbane Lion joins key players Jack Darling, Eric Mackenzie, Beau Waters, Xavier Ellis, Sharrod Wellingham, Scott Selwood and Matt Rosa on modified duties until after Christmas.

Waters has not played since round 15, 2013 due to his troublesome shoulder, which has been reconstructed.

"Beau Waters has come back in really, really good shape and he's worked really hard in the off-season," Eagles physiotherapist Paul Tucker told the club's website.

"He's basically in with the rest of the group training at present.

"He'll pull out of some of the contact work until post-Christmas, but as a general feeling it's all really positive."

Latest scans of Darling's recovery from a foot stress fracture were positive, but he is unlikely to run before the New Year.

Murray Newman, Mitch Brown, Pat McGinnity, Brad Sheppard and Brant Colledge are also on the comeback trail and on light duties until after the break.
