LEWY Taylor had a brilliant debut season but there's every reason to believe the NAB AFL Rising Star winner will be even better in 2015.

For starters, the Brisbane Lions livewire has had a full pre-season this time around - something he didn't have the luxury of in his first year.

When Taylor was taken with pick No.28 in the 2013 NAB AFL Draft, he was recovering from foot surgery and spent most of his time in the pool and hitting the boxing pads in his first pre-season.

Pearce Hanley out until mid-year

Despite the limited build-up, the diminutive Geelong Falcon made the round-one team and never looked back, playing all 22 games, averaging 17 disposals and winning the prestigious individual award.

The build up to his second season has been completely different.

Taylor has not missed a beat and said he was noticing the differences on the training track.

"Last year I felt like I wasn't running out games too well," Taylor told AFL.com.au.

"I'd get through, but this year I feel a lot better and running training out a lot better. Hopefully I can take that into games.

"It's just more efforts. Every opponent you get is going to be as fit as you, but it definitely helps you to run your opponent around more and work them into the ground."

Daniel Rich hungry to play every NAB Challenge game

Taylor also knows his teammates a lot better. While he was one third of the exciting 'Mozzie Squad' with Dayne Zorko and Josh Green, a full pre-season on top of the games he played has done wonders for his confidence and combinations.

He said the addition of Dayne Beams, Allen Christensen and Mitch Robinson - particularly the latter two who will likely vie for spots alongside him at half-forward - had lifted the competition for places.

Redden ready to return smarter, better

One thing unlikely to phase Taylor is any external expectations of a follow-up to his super 2014.

You'd go a long way to find a more laid-back 19-year-old.

"Personally, I put it behind me. It doesn't mean too much to me," he said with a shrug.

"I want to play the whole season in the seniors ... and hopefully get some wins and push for finals.

"I don't listen to it (outside comments) too much. I just try to get out there and do my job."
