CARLTON head of recruiting Shane Rogers has quit the club and will leave at the end of the month after walking out on the Blues' restructured scouting team, led by Stephen Silvagni.

Rogers, who had signed a new contract with the Blues last year, made the decision to leave himself. His departure follows the exits of talent scouts Luke Williams and Wayne Hughes, who have joined Richmond and St Kilda respectively.

The Blues, who confirmed his departure on Wednesday afternoon, revamped their recruiting team in December, welcoming Silvagni back to the club from Greater Western Sydney in the role of general manager of list management.

Rogers had been with the Blues since 2007 and was promoted to head of the recruiting department before the 2014 season, where he reported to Silvagni under the new structure.

When the restructure was confirmed in December, Blues CEO Steven Trigg said the club was committed to bolstering its "elite list management and football programs".

Head of football Andrew McKay said Rogers had been a "tremendous asset" to the club's recruiting team and would be missed.

"He has been diligent and thorough in examining up-and-coming talent, securing the likes of Rising Star nominee Troy Menzel, first-round pick Patrick Cripps and Irishmen Ciaran Byrne and Ciaran Sheehan," McKay said.

"Shane has also played key roles in bringing experienced players to Carlton including Dale Thomas, Andrejs Everitt, Sam Docherty, Liam Jones, Kristian Jaksch, Mark Whiley and Jason Tutt."
