GEELONG has extended the contracts of youngsters Nakia Cockatoo and Cory Gregson for a further year, tying them to the club until the end of 2017.

Cockatoo, the No. 10 selection in last year's NAB AFL Draft, has already excited Cats supporters with glimpses of brilliance through the NAB Challenge.

His acceleration from the centre square and thumping super goal against Adelaide earlier this month was a social media sensation.

Gregson, a 175cm small forward taken at No. 47 in last year's draft, has also shown positive signs, playing all three pre-season matches.

Geelong's general manager of football, Steve Hocking, said the club was delighted to have both recommit.

"Both boys have managed to impress through their skill and personal values in their short time here," he said.

"The signing of these two young talents has the future looking even more positive."
