1. Do the Giants have anyone to help Ryan Griffen?
The former Dog was serviceable again for the Giants, but copped a heavy tag from Demons' young gun Jack Viney. Griffen worked his backside off and did a mountain of inside work but most of his possessions came under extreme pressure. Maybe that might be his job now that GWS has the likes of Dylan Shiel, Devon Smith and Stephen Coniglio on the outside, but if Griffen can get some help – especially at stoppages – the Giants can go up another level.

2. Did the Demons fool everybody in round one?
No, maybe not. Maybe they were just beaten by a better team on the day in the Giants. Even so, any side that gives up nine unanswered goals in a quarter and 14 in a row for the game has some serious issues. Confidence and belief might have been back after their win over the Suns last week, and it may have carried into round two, but it disappeared quicker than a politician's promise … fitting, given the game was played just up the road from Parliament House.

3. Is there something in Sydney's water supply?
Last week it was the Sydney Swans, this week it was Greater Western Sydney. The Swans booted 7.4 to nothing in the last term to beat the Bombers in round one, while the Giants kicked nine goals on the trot in the third against the Dees in their highest scoring quarter ever. GWS booted 14 goals unanswered from late in the second term until midway through the last. Whatever the Sydney sides are drinking, I want some.

4. Can the Giants make the eight?
It's too early to call, but there's no doubt they're no longer the competition's whipping boys. St Kilda and Melbourne aren't exactly top four contenders, but the Giants have started favourites in the opening two rounds and have taken the points on both occasions. They're winning the games they're expected to win, and while it hasn't been smooth sailing, the growth of the group is clearly evident. The addition of Heath Shaw and Joel Patfull to the club's defensive stocks has added depth and their impact has been emphatic.

5. Will the Sydney derby be a sell-out?
The Swans and the Giants clash in round three at the SCG in what is surely the most important derby since their first meeting. GWS is undefeated in 2015 after solid wins over St Kilda and Melbourne, and the competition's newest club will be hell-bent on upstaging the Swans, who will be on the SCG for the first time this season. Bragging rights are always on offer in a derby, but this one now has some extra spice, and should draw a bumper crowd.
