NORTH Melbourne legend Brent Harvey has scotched speculation he could continue his storied career at another club next season.

Harvey, who is about to become only the fourth player to reach 400 senior games, also denied the club had disrespected him in the lead-up to the milestone.

The 37-year-old will join the League's exclusive 400 club on Saturday night at the Gabba when the Kangaroos play the Brisbane Lions.

It is unclear for now whether Harvey will keep playing next season.

On Wednesday, North coach Brad Scott said that was a decision to be made later this year.

There has been some talk in the media this week, led by AFL.com.au’s Damian Barrett, that Harvey might look at leaving North and play at another club next year.

"That's a hypothetical question and I've been in this game long enough to not answer hypothetical questions," Harvey told Channel Nine.

"That's my answer to that, but look, I'm a North Melbourne person through and through."

Harvey added that his most prized personal accolade in football was his North Melbourne life membership.

He was then pressed on the issue.

"I will be at North Melbourne," Harvey replied.

Responding to media comments about how North were treating his milestone match, Harvey said the Kangaroos had been "absolutely outstanding" with their support.

Harvey held a media conference on Tuesday with the other 400 gamers - Michael Tuck, Kevin Bartlett and Dustin Fletcher.

"Knowing the person I am, with my strict routine, they've stayed far enough away (this week).

"It's been unbelievable."

Harvey also backed Scott's ambivalent comments about his playing future.

"The thing about Brad ... you get asked the question, you have to answer it," Harvey said.

"For Brad, he's damned if he does and he's damned if he doesn't.

"If he doesn't answer it, there's going to be a lot more speculation.

"The thing I can say with Brad, our relationship is fantastic."

Harvey said that for the last four years, he and Scott had sat down around this time to talk about whether the veteran keeps playing.

"It just so happens that I'm playing a milestone game and I'm in the media this week," he added.

"I will let things cool down in the next couple of weeks, go into Brad's office and we'll have a chat like we do not only every year, probably every fortnight as well."
