RISING Star nominee Jake Lever is urging Adelaide fans to show Sydney Swans star Adam Goodes the same level of respect shown to the Crows by the rest of the competition since the death of Phil Walsh.

The football community has rallied around the club in the wake of the coach's passing on July 3, with moving tributes shown by each of the 17 other sides.

The Crows will fly to Sydney later in the week for their clash on Saturday at the SCG amid renewed controversy surrounding the booing of Goodes.

Stop the 'sheep mentality', says Priddis

Sections of the West Coast crowd booed the Swans champion mercilessly at the weekend, with two supporters booted from Domain Stadium for making racist comments.

Speaking with maturity beyond his years, Lever hoped Crows fans would show more class on Saturday.

"Over the past three or four weeks we've been shown a lot of respect and care, and for our supporters to go up this week I think that they could repay the favour to the Sydney fans and also Adam Goodes," Lever said.

"I wouldn't expect too much [booing]."

Lever's maturity and leadership has played a large part in his immediate impact at senior level, with coaches and teammates alike praising the 19-year-old's ability to set the tone in his seven games.

It's not something Lever actively thinks about – although he admits he's one of the most vocal come game day.

"I think [it just comes naturally], I don't try to think too much about it," he said.

"Everyone's a leader out on the field, mine might just stand out a little bit more because I might be a bit louder."
