GREATER Western Sydney forward Rhys Palmer has signed a two-year contract extension to remain at the club until the end of 2017.

Palmer is one of the original Giants. He joined the club prior to the 2012 season after playing 53 matches with Fremantle.

The 2008 NAB AFL Rising Star winner was one of only five players in the Giants' inaugural 22 with previous AFL experience.

He's played 56 matches with the Giants and has kicked 58 goals, including a career-best five-goal haul against Port Adelaide in round 20 this year.

Palmer told the club's website on Wednesday he was excited about what could be achieved at the Giants.

"I'm really settled here in Sydney," Palmer said.

"We have a great group of boys and I love where the club is heading, so I'm happy to re-sign for another two years.

"The club is in terrific shape, with a lot of good people involved and I'm looking forward to the future here and seeing how far we can go."

His coach Leon Cameron said Palmer was a very important part of the Giants' forward structure.

"Rhys has become an integral part of our team and adds great leadership and pressure to our young forward line and we're delighted he's re-signed," Cameron said.

Palmer joins a growing list of Giants that have re-committed to the club including Jeremy Cameron, Dylan Shiel, Devon Smith, Stephen Coniglio, Phil Davis, Will Hoskin-Elliott, Matt Buntine, Aidan Corr and Zac Williams.

The Giants are still chasing the signature of talented midfielder Adam Treloar and CEO Dave Matthews told SEN earlier this week the club had not giving up hope of keeping him despite heavy interest from a number of Melbourne clubs.
