BROWNLOW medallist Nathan Fyfe has returned to a rousing reception in his home town Lake Grace in a helicopter.

Lake Grace has a population of around 500 and based on photos, most of them turned up to see the arrival of their footy hero on Wednesday afternoon.

Fyfe said he was thrilled to be back home and loved seeing the locals.

"Thanks everyone for turning up," he told the club's website.

"It's great to be back here and see so many people."

Fyfe's legend has grown in the past few weeks. He won the Brownlow Medal and his hilarious speech that night endeared him to the footy public even more.

His topless photo the morning after did no harm to his image either.

That came after it was revealed he racked up 24 disposals in the preliminary final against Hawthorn despite playing with a broken fibula for most of the match.

The gun Docker would have no doubt enjoyed his chopper ride into Lake Grace. Earlier this year, Fyfe told AFL.com.au he wanted to one day fly, and even buy a helicopter.

"I think that'd be a pretty sweet way to travel," Fyfe said in May.

"I've done the sums on them, but the accountant's not too keen on me pulling the trigger just yet."

The Fremantle superstar said he had a three-year plan to become a qualified helicopter pilot.
