YOUNG midfielder Jaden McGrath is the latest Brisbane Lion to re-commit to the club.

The promising 19-year-old Victorian was contracted until the end of 2016, but has signed a two-year contract extension with the Lions.

McGrath's new deal follows the re-signing of key Lions Pearce Hanley, Stefan Martin and Mitch Robinson earlier this month.

The young Lion said he was confident the club was heading in the right direction.

"I'm over the moon to re-sign with the club," McGrath told the Brisbane Lions' website.

"There are good times ahead."

McGrath was drafted at pick No.73 in the 2014 NAB AFL Draft and made his debut in round one against Collingwood at the Gabba earlier this year.

But in round three, a foot injury cut the Victorian native's debut season short.

The exciting midfielder is expected to re-join the main group when pre-season training resumes in January.

"I didn’t play a lot of footy over the year but getting the opportunity at the start of the season probably helped (with renewing my contract)," said McGrath.

"I spent a bit of time in rehab pre-Christmas with a bit of soreness through one of my shins but it’s more precautionary because of the stress fracture I had on the same foot this season.

"After Christmas I should be ready to get back into full training."
