AFL 2015 Training - Magpies at Falls Creek 191115

Taylor Adams is always very vocal during training

A lot of the boys would probably say I am pretty demanding out on the track and have high expectations

COLLINGWOOD midfielder Taylor Adams says on-field leadership was left to too few at the Magpies in 2015 as they tumbled down the ladder in the second half of the season.

And he has declared he wants to help fill that void as he prepares for his third season with the club.

The Magpies won just two of 11 games after the mid-season bye to tumble from fourth to 12th.

It was the second season in succession Collingwood won eight of its first 11 games before dropping off to miss the eight.

Adams told the club's website it was an ambition of his to be seen as a leader at the Magpies.

"A lot of the boys would probably say I am pretty demanding out on the track and have high expectations," Adams said.

"That is something we need to improve on coming into the second half of the year, where we fell away and relied on too few at the top of the leadership group to drive the boys."

The 22-year-old has played 30 games with Collingwood since being traded from Greater Western Sydney at the end of 2013 after 31 games.

He is one of nine players on the Magpies list from other clubs including former teammate Adam Treloar.

Adams said his approach would remain the same regardless of whether or not he is included in Collingwood's leadership group for 2016.

"If I am not it won't change the way I go about things," Adams said.

"I am still going to be demanding out on the field and try to instruct the boys and that is exactly what we need out there."

Adams, who finished fourth in the best and fairest last season, said he was seeing improvement in his running ability during his fifth pre-season.

"That ability to run out games better and change of speed is something I am trying to improve and it's certainly something I have seen some improvement there," Adams said.
