NORTH Melbourne small forward Kayne Turner will be sidelined for about four weeks after injuring his hamstring tendon against the Western Bulldogs last Friday night.

Turner came off the ground late in the first quarter against the Bulldogs and played no further part in the game.

North Melbourne announced on Tuesday morning that scans had confirmed Turner had suffered damage to his hamstring tendon.

"Unfortunately for Kayne and the club, the injury will keep him on the sidelines for about four weeks," North football director Geoff Walsh said.

Turner's injury is the second hamstring strain he has suffered this year, with the small forward sidelined after North's opening NAB Challenge match against St Kilda in Wangaratta.

He was playing just his second senior game for the season against the Bulldogs, having earned a recall a round earlier against Gold Coast.

"We're confident he'll be able to make a solid impact when he returns in the second half of the season," Walsh said.

Meanwhile, defender Sam Wright remains in doubt for Sunday's clash against St Kilda after injuring his ankle against the Bulldogs.

Wright rolled his ankle early in last Friday night's game, but managed to return to the field and play out the game.

Wright will need to prove his fitness at training this week to take the field against the Saints.
