RICHMOND'S woes have deepened with Kamdyn McIntosh facing at least two months on the sidelines after a training incident.

McIntosh suffered a syndesmosis sprain to his right ankle on Thursday and is facing eight-to-10 weeks on the sidelines.

The 22-year-old will be in a moon boot for the next three weeks and has been placed on the long-term injury list, with rookie Jayden Short remaining on the senior list.

McIntosh's injury is another setback for the struggling Tigers, who are 15th on the ladder with only one win ahead of a huge challenge against the Sydney Swans at the MCG on Saturday night.

Richmond is already without skipper Trent Cotchin, who failed to get up from a broken cheekbone in time to face the Swans, and still doesn't have a date set for recruit Chris Yarran (foot) to be available to debut.

Meanwhile, young key forward Reece McKenzie has also been place on the long-term injury list for mental health reasons.

McKenzie has spent extended periods of time away from the club since the start of the year due to this ongoing issue.

There is no timeline on his return and the club will continue to support the 20-year-old and his family.

He was selected with pick 77 in the 2014 NAB AFL Draft.
