Adelaide

Adelaide coach Don Pyke has the luxury of almost a full list to pick from for Thursday night's blockbuster against North Melbourne at the Adelaide Oval. However, don't expect Pyke to make any changes to the side that has won four in a row and is coming off a resounding victory over West Coast in Perth before the bye. The Crows' SANFL team also had the week off, denying Wayne Milera, Brad Crouch, Ricky Henderson and Cam Ellis-Yolmen the chance to push their case for a senior recall. Former captain Nathan van Berlo is available after recovering from an ankle injury, but it's hard to find a place for him in the side at the moment. The Crows have used an AFL-low 27 players this season and have only three players on their list sidelined with injury. - Lee Gaskin

Brisbane

Two fresh injuries from last weekend's loss to West Coast will ensure Justin Leppitsch needs to make changes for Saturday's match against Richmond at the MCG. Running defenders Ryan Harwood (knee) and Tom Cutler (hamstring) were both casualties against the Eagles, but at least Leppitsch can bring in some players performing well in the NEAFL. Tall defender Dan McStay played well and might be a good option against a tall Tigers forward line, while small forward Josh Green (five goals) and first-year midfielder Rhys Mathieson were also strong at the lower level and would come into consideration. - Michael Whiting

Carlton

The Northern Blues also had a bye last weekend. In their previous game against the Box Hill Hawks Jack Silvagni, named as an emergency for Carlton against St Kilda in round 12, moved a step closer to an AFL debut with another four-goal haul. Ruckman Andrew Phillips starred in his second VFL game since overcoming a hamstring injury. He was the Northern Blues' best with 53 hit-outs, 13 disposals, eight marks and a goal and would be in line for a recall against his former team GWS Giants at Spotless Stadium on Saturday. Another former Giant, Kristian Jaksch, would be in contention for senior selection after a four-goal haul. Liam Jones and Dylan Buckley made vital contributions against Box Hill, with Buckley a chance to replace the injured Dennis Armfield. - Howard Kotton

Collingwood

The Pies say they escaped the Queen's Birthday clash with a rare clean bill of health, but they could still make a raft of changes as they attempt to end a three-game losing streak against an improving Fremantle at the MCG on Friday night. The list will be fresh given both the seniors and reserves had byes at the weekend, and the player perhaps most likely to be promoted is ex-Lions midfielder James Aish, who has been in terrific form of late in the VFL. Travis Cloke is again in contention, particularly given the selectors erred by picking three ruckmen against Melbourne. Other candidates include youngster Matthew Goodyear, defender Adam Oxley and experienced quartet Tyson Goldsack, Nathan Brown, Alan Toovey and Brent Macaffer. - Ben Collins

Fremantle

Young key position utility Tanner Smith has already been ruled out of the clash with Collingwood due to a hamstring injury. Jack Hannath was held out of Sunday's WAFL match and appears likely to come back in as the second ruckman. Ross Lyon said Matthew Pavlich needs to be assessed given it was a six-day turnaround with travel, but the Dockers do have the bye the following week. The five-day turnaround for those who played in the WAFL will impede their chances of a call-up. Ed Langdon made a major case for a recall with a 25-disposal five-goal game in the WAFL. He kicked half of Peel's 10 goals on Sunday. Garrick Ibbotson was rock solid in defence with 24 disposals and nine marks in his first game back from a fractured wrist. Tendai Mzungu (29 disposals) and Brady Grey (20 disposals) remain in the mix after they were emergencies last week. - Alex Malcolm

Geelong

In-form midfielder Cam Guthrie will return against St Kilda after missing the Western Bulldogs game due to illness. He turned up with an elevated temperature and was sent home, with Cory Gregson replacing him. The talented Josh Cowan put himself back in the frame with 33 disposals in the VFL. He is a pacy defender who has shown he can play at senior level. Darcy Lang may come into contention after winning 24 disposals following his omission. Jed Bews and Nathan Vardy are both senior players ready for the call up if opportunity arises. Mitch Clark was best on ground in the VFL with five goals against Box Hill but coach Chris Scott has already said neither Clark nor mature-aged midfielder Sam Menegola will be considered for senior selection until Geelong returns from the bye in round 15. - Peter Ryan

Gold Coast

Following their bye last weekend the Suns head to Launceston to take on Hawthorn and should regain the services of Adam Saad. The running defender has missed the past four matches with a hamstring injury and needs to only get through training this week to regain his place. Kade Kolodjashnij injured his neck in the team's last outing against Richmond but is expected to be fine to take on the Hawks. - Michael Whiting

GWS

The Giants weren't exactly impressive in a scratchy win over Essendon last week, and while Leon Cameron won't be wielding the axe, if he does need to make changes for this week's clash with Carlton he has plenty of options. Stars Shane Mumford (ankle) and Steve Johnson (foot) could be a chance, but will need to prove their fitness at training. GWS has the bye next week, which could come into Cameron's calculations, with defender Adam Kennedy (shoulder) also close to returning. Veteran Rhys Palmer dominated in the NEAFL again with 52 possessions, 14 clearances, four goals and nine tackles in Canberra, but with Toby Greene and debutant Matthew Kennedy in good touch it might take a few more such performances to win back a spot in the 22. Jack Steele and Adam Tomlinson were also outstanding once again in the reserves but have been dropped a couple of times this season, so they might be set for an extended stint in the lower grade. Young defenders Harrison Himmelberg and Jeremy Finlayson – both products of the GWS academy – must also be close to getting their first senior game after playing some consistent footy for the past two months. - Adam Curley

Hawthorn

This has long been mooted as the week Luke Hodge returns to the side following the meniscus tear he suffered against GWS in round six. But in media interviews over the weekend, the skipper seemed to hedge his bets and suggested the comeback might wait until the Port Adelaide clash after the bye. Either way he will be well prepared, having completed a mini pre-season training campaign. The Hawks copped a physical beating from North last Friday, but the nine-day break ahead of Sunday's Aurora Stadium clash with Gold Coast will freshen them up. Don't expect too many changes, with swingman Ryan Schoenmakers still nursing a groin complaint. Kieran Lovell, Will Langford and Kurt Heatherley were good for Box Hill on the weekend and Hawk fans are hoping to have a look at Heatherley at AFL level before the end of the season. - Ashley Browne

North Melbourne

Injuries have bitten hard at Arden St, but the Roos' midfield should be bolstered by the returns of skipper Andrew Swallow (concussion) and tough ball-winner Ben Cunnington (corked quad), while star forward Jarrad Waite (hip) is a chance to come back from a hip issue. The important trio would be welcomed with open arms for the crunch clash against the Crows at Adelaide Oval, with Luke McDonald (hamstring) set for a lengthy stint on the sidelines. Experienced defender Lachlan Hansen shapes as a contender for his second AFL game this year after only playing a half in Werribee's loss to Essendon before being rested, while Ryan Clarke (20 disposals, 10 tackles) continues to impress. - Travis King

Richmond

Defender Nick Vlastuin is ready to return from concussion, having recovered over the Tigers' bye, but where will he be played? Vlastuin has been moved successfully into the midfield at times and could come into the team in either a half-back or onball role. The Tigers' VFL team had a bye in round 13, but Troy Chaplin, Jacob Townsend and Connor Menadue are available for promotion. The Tigers have an opportunity to expose young forward Liam McBean at the top level against the lowly Lions, with the 21-year-old playing just two career games in three-and-a-half seasons. Ben Lennon will likely need one more week before returning from shoulder surgery despite a rapid recovery. - Nathan Schmook

St Kilda

Expect the Saints to be bolstered by the return of skipper Nick Riewoldt after a knee injury kept him out of the win against Carlton. Nathan Wright provided strong pressure up forward in his first game for 2016 but after picking up only five disposals, he may struggle to keep his spot. Another in danger of losing his spot is Lewis Pierce, who was relatively quiet in his debut. If Paddy McCartin passes his fitness test following concussion, expect him to come into the side. The club will be sweating on the fitness of Tom Lee after he hurt his left knee against the Blues. Wingman Jack Billings could come into consideration following a 28-disposal effort for Sandringham in his last outing. - Dinny Navaratnam
