Adelaide

The Crows looked outside the box with their rookie selections, taking Hugh Greenwood from basketball and former cricketer Alex Keath. Both have shown promising signs, as have the other mature-aged recruits. Still, the Crows could be inclined to go the more traditional path with younger players on their rookie list next year.

Jonathon Beech
The West Adelaide premiership star has impressed up forward after finally getting his chance on an AFL list as a mature-aged recruit. The 25-year-old has kicked 15 goals in 11 games in the SANFL while averaging 18 possessions. RE-ROOKIE

Hugh Greenwood
One of two Category B rookies on the Crows' list, the former basketballer has played at half-forward and through the midfield. The 24-year-old has impressed with his skills in close and will be given another year to develop. RE-ROOKIE

Paul Hunter
A standout in the NEAFL with Redlands last year, the 23-year-old has played as a key forward along with rotating in the ruck. Averaging just nine disposals a game in the SANFL with 69.6 per cent efficiency, the 200cm Hunter could be squeezed out when the Crows cast an eye over their list. DELIST

Alex Keath
The second of the Crows' Category B signings, the former cricketer has impressed as a key defender with his intercept marking and solid decision marking across half-back. Will be given another year to develop his game. RE-ROOKIE

Reilly O'Brien
O'Brien, the No.9 selection in the 2005 rookie draft, is the Crows' back-up ruckman behind Sam Jacobs. The 20-year-old is developing nicely and would be expected to make his AFL debut next year. ELEVATE

Keenan Ramsey
Like last season, the 192cm Ramsey has switched between attack and defence. Playing the role as the third tall, but the 20-year-old is likely to be squeezed out next year. DELIST - Lee Gaskin

Brisbane

The youngest list in the competition has exposed most of its rookies to senior action in the past year or two. The Lions are going with a youth policy so are likely to stick with most of their rookies into 2017.

Hugh Beasley
The second-year rookie has missed much of the season with knee problems. Showed enough in six games in 2015 to persist with as a key defender. RE-ROOKIE

Billy Evans
Played most of the season in the NEAFL but is often on the cusp of elevation when a senior midfielder goes down. Evans is a hard worker who has the respect of the coaching staff. RE-ROOKIE

Matthew Hammelmann
A forward who has been converted to the backline with excellent results. Hammelmann has made his AFL debut this season and might help solve some defensive problems long term. RE-ROOKIE

Cian Hanley
Coming off an ACL in 2015, the younger brother of Pearce has been hit by injuries again in his second season and is still yet to play a game. A project player the club would love to see on the field to see what he can do. RE-ROOKIE

Jackson Paine
Could have salvaged his career with a permanent move to defence. A leader in the NEAFL team and has performed well in his limited senior appearances. ELEVATE

Archie Smith
Now in his third season, Smith has continued to improve his ruck work in the NEAFL. After coming to the game late from an elite basketball background, looks ready to make the jump to the seniors. ELEVATE

Reuben William
The explosive South Sudanese-born defender has made his debut and shown glimpses of the run-and-carry the club needs from its back half. RE-ROOKIE - Michael Whiting

Carlton

Despite making some progress this season the Blues will make significant changes to their list at the end of this season. Of their rookies, American Matt Korcheck and Jesse Glass-McCasker are long-term prospects. Ciaran Byrne has done enough to earn a spot on the senior list, but the future of fellow Irishman Ciaran Sheehan is not so clear.

Ciaran Byrne
The Blues' nominated rookie was starting to carve a niche as a creative, running half-back before rupturing his ACL against Collingwood in round 15. Facing a long rehabilitation but has a bright future. ELEVATE

Andrew Gallucci
Speedy, mature-age small forward who suffered a season-ending shoulder injury in May. Given the Blues' paucity of stocks in this area, they are likely to persist with him. RE-ROOKIE

Jesse Glass-McCasker
While he is making slow progress in the VFL, the Blues hold high hopes for this young key defender from WA. Needs to build up a bit but worth preserving with him. RE-ROOKIE

Billy Gowers
Showed some encouraging signs as a running half-back earlier in the season, but he needs to work on several aspects of his game including body positioning in defensive situations. Might struggle. DELIST

Matt Korcheck
As expected the Category B international rookie has been making slow progress in the VFL as a ruckman but has shown some promising signs. The American is improving his marking, ball handling and game awareness. RE-ROOKIE

Ciaran Sheehan
The Irishman has been plagued by injury since 2014, the latest being a serious hamstring that ended his 2016 campaign after making a promising return in the VFL. Worth another chance. RE-ROOKIE

Cameron Wood
Ruckman has spent the season in the VFL after playing 18 games last season. Appears out of favour with his main role assisting in Korcheck's development. DELIST - Howard Kotton

Collingwood

With their resources and cutting-edge facilities at the Holden Centre the envy of many clubs, the Pies have traditionally found gold in the rookie draft. There is unlikely to be much movement on their rookie list for next season given the club has committed to giving another chance to banned pair Lachlan Keeffe and Josh Thomas.

Mason Cox
The 'American Pie', 25, has been a revelation in the second year of his three-year international rookie contract. Shown great promise as a forward/ruckman, playing 10 games and kicking 15 goals, including a best of four, and capping it all by acting as a virtual AFL interpreter for visiting US Vice-President Joe BidenRE-ROOKIE

Corey Gault
The 23-year-old key forward is in his final year as a Pies rookie and there mightn't be room for him on the primary list, particularly if the club retains experienced pair Travis Cloke and Jesse White. Hasn't grabbed his limited opportunities and was hindered by a bout of concussion, but could yet prove his worth. DELIST

Tim Golds
The former Giant, 23, has been solid in the VFL without setting the world on fire in his first season with the Pies, playing mainly in defence but with the odd stint in attack. Likely to be given another season to impress. RE-ROOKIE

Lachlan Keeffe
Still serving a doping suspension with Josh Thomas, the 26-year-old will be permitted to return to training in December. Could eventually fill a need for another classy key defender. RE-ROOKIE

Josh Smith
The 22-year-old defender/midfielder from Queensland has proved a surprise packet in his first season at the Holden Centre, averaging 20.3 possessions in 12 consecutive games since making his debut on Anzac Day. ELEVATE

Josh Thomas
Like Keeffe, must wait until December to resume training after serving a doping ban, and the 24-year-old will have his work cut out trying to break back into a talented midfield after two seasons on the sidelines. RE-ROOKIE

Darrean Wyatt
The former US college basketballer, who was born and raised in Melbourne, has shown promise learning his craft as a key forward and kicking three goals in a VFL game. A project player with great scope for development. RE-ROOKIE - Ben Collins

Mason Cox has exceeded expectations this year. Picture: AFL Media

Essendon

All of the Bombers' rookies are uncontracted for next season, so the club has some decisions to make regarding the make-up of that area of its list. Anthony McDonald-Tipungwuti is a success story for the club in what has been a dismal year but there are still plenty of unknowns about the rest of the rookie list.

Jake Long
Has improved in his two seasons at the club but is yet to break through for a senior appearance. The 20-year-old son of former champion Michael needs to develop physically but has some natural raw ability and a turn of pace. RE-ROOKIE

Gach Nyuon
Nyuon was picked as a project player at last year's rookie draft, with the club knowing he would take more than a year to be ready at AFL level. Caught trouble on the weekend when detained by police for being drunk and disorderly. RE-ROOKIE

Will Hams
The hard-at-it midfielder has done himself no harm in recent weeks in terms of winning an upgrade to the senior list. He was solid on the weekend for the Bombers with 12 disposals and a goal, and has overcome a couple of injury-interrupted years. ELEVATE

Anthony McDonald-Tipungwuti
McDonald-Tipungwuti has been a revelation in his first year on Essendon's rookie list, and will surely be rewarded with a new contract and an elevation to the senior list next year. His pace, hardness and dash has added a new element to Essendon's line-up. ELEVATE

Conor McKenna
The speedy Irishman continues to show exciting signs in his experience at the top level. He collected 15 disposals off half-back against the Tigers on the weekend and has plenty of promise as he continues to develop. RE-ROOKIE

Tom Wallis
The son of 2000 premiership player Dean Wallis was selected last year after an injury-interrupted draft year. He is a left-footed half-back who can be shifted into different areas of the ground. RE-ROOKIE - Callum Twomey

Fremantle

The Dockers are expected to make significant list changes at the end of the season. The rookie list is unlikely to be spared in the rebuild and a decision on Anthony Morabito's future looms as a significant one.

Josh Deluca
Drafted alongside Lachie Weller, Connor Blakely and Ed Langdon but has not developed as quickly. He suffered injury issues in 2015 and was dropped from the main list and re-drafted as a rookie. He has been close to debuting recently but it will be a battle for him to remain at the club. DELIST

Sean Hurley
The Irish recruit looked an exciting prospect at 196cm with an incredible running capacity. But injury has cruelled him. He's missed most of this year following hip surgery and is unlikely to remain at the club. DELIST

Anthony Morabito
Had a fantastic pre-season after failing to play at all last season but hamstring and ankle injuries have curtailed his year. He's played just three senior matches and 32 WAFL games in six seasons. He has been desperately unlucky but it looks like time for both he and the club to make a definitive decision on his future. DELIST

Ryan Nyhuis
The 19-year-old played nine WAFL matches with Peel Thunder and one reserves game this season but a knee injury has hampered the medium-sized defender. He should get another chance to build on his first season. RE-ROOKIE

Tanner Smith
The 22-year-old key position utility has been unfortunate. He was a second-round pick in 2012, played one game in 2013 and then spent three seasons on the rookie list. He was elevated this year and played well against the Brisbane Lions but tore his hamstring badly against Port Adelaide. The Dockers are so thin on talls he could stay. ELEVATE

Matthew Uebergang
The Queenslander looks an exciting key position prospect at 195cm. He played 12 WAFL games, averaged nearly four marks and kicked eight goals playing at both ends before he suffered a season-ending hamstring injury. The Dockers signed him to a one-year contract extension. RE-ROOKIE - Alex Malcolm

Geelong

The Cats always show patience but they need to turn over some rookies as they search for key defenders and some pace. The Cats will need to decide whether they want two rookie ruckmen beyond this season, while injuries have cruelled Cam Delaney and Zac Bates.

Zac Bates
Bates showed his pace and talent at the end of last season but injuries have denied him the chance to show his wares. He has missed the second half of this season with quad and shoulder injuries after having 2014 and 2015 derailed with hamstring injuries. DELIST

Jock Cornell
Has found his feet, putting together a string of games in the VFL before being rested last week. He is a project player but he is giving himself every chance with a consistent first season in the VFL. RE-ROOKIE

Cameron Delaney
One of those unlucky players cruelled by injury, he finally returned against Werribee after a long lay-off only to suffer a concussion early in the game. Foot and knee injuries have not allowed the talented defender to get on the park. DELIST

Padraig Lucey
The project ruckman has shown improvement working in tandem with Nathan Vardy and then Mitch Clark. He was always a punt but he has shown an ability to take a mark, so it will be touch and go whether the Cats persist with him. RE-ROOKIE

James Parsons
Has improved throughout his first year after an interrupted pre-season. He will benefit from a full pre-season and has the potential to blossom in his second season. RE-ROOKIE

Tom Read
A knee injury has destroyed the young ruckman's season after he showed promise in 2015. Has shown enough to be given another chance as a developing ruckman. RE-ROOKIE

Tom Ruggles
A superb performance to break into the senior side and has acquitted himself reasonably well in 12 games. He has learned some harsh lessons along the way but shown resilience. Ruggles shapes as a vital player in the finals given the plethora of small forwards playing for key opponents. RE-ROOKIE - Peter Ryan

Tom Ruggles has given himself every chance of being a regular in Geelong's senior side. Picture: AFL Media

Gold Coast

With so many injuries to key players, the Suns' rookies have got plenty of chances this season. Generally they've done well and will be retained or promoted, with most of the off-season changes set to come from the primary list through delisting or trades.

Ryan Davis
The mature-age recruit has provided plenty in his first season, playing 13 games. A clever forward with a hard edge, the 27-year-old has been a nice foil to the Suns' tall timber. ELEVATE

Jesse Joyce
The Suns Academy player has exceeded expectations and managed six games. Shows good composure and offers something the Suns need more of – good ball users. ELEVATE

Tom Keough
A hybrid defender who can play on talls and smalls, Keough has mixed injury with patchy form in the NEAFL. Has shown enough in an area of the ground the Suns need improvement. RE-ROOKIE

Cameron Loersch
A project tall forward that has played the season in the NEAFL. Loersch has shown encouraging signs but still needs some work to be a senior player. RE-ROOKIE

Darcy MacPherson
The clever small forward has been hampered by a medial ligament (knee) injury for half the season, but did enough to earn himself three senior games. RE-ROOKIE

Danny Stanley
An original Sun who has served the club well, this looks like Stanley's last season. Battled form and injury in the NEAFL this year but can be proud of his contribution. DELIST - Michael Whiting

GWS

The Giants used just two rookie selections last year, both on mature-age forwards with an ability to step straight into senior football if required. With so much young talent on their list already and more expected to arrive in November's national draft, that approach is unlikely to change.

Daniel Lloyd
The powerful medium-sized forward plucked from the Central Coast has been outstanding in the NEAFL playing as a midfielder, with stints forward. Has been upgraded but yet to make his debut. RE-ROOKIE

Sam Reid
The former Giant has continued the form that got him re-drafted last year and has played three games at senior level after being upgraded earlier this year. RE-ROOKIE - Adam Curley

Hawthorn

The Hawks tend to use their rookie list to take the best available talent, but in 2016 they kept a spot for Alex Woodward coming off his third knee reconstruction and for Conor Glass, who they brought out from Ireland.

Conor Glass
The highly-rated Irish teenager only joined the club full-time in June after finishing school back home. Has played one VFL development game so far and is just starting his AFL journey. RE-ROOKIE

Lachlan Langford
Brother of Will, but more like father Chris in stature, he has showed some promising signs since his elevation to the VFL side, playing mainly as a forward. The Hawks will give him at least one more year to bloom. RE-ROOKIE

Jermaine Miller-Lewis
A popular figure at the club, Miller-Lewis has spent most of the season playing across half-back for Box Hill. He hasn't been spectacular by any stretch and might struggle to keep his spot. DELIST

Luke Surman
A former basketballer playing just his second year of elite-level football, Surman has featured at VFL development level and as a key position prospect should expect at least one more year in 2017 to enhance his game. RE-ROOKIE

Alex Woodward
One game back at VFL development level after his third ACL injury and he suffered a foot injury. Woodward has had no luck on the injury front but if he can get through the rest of the VFL season unscathed, expect the Hawks to stick with him because his upside as an inside mid is solid. RE-ROOKIE Ashley Browne

Melbourne

The Demons have some decisions to make on a number of their experienced players, including Chris Dawes, Jack Grimes and Jack Trengove. Once those situations are resolved, Josh Mahoney and his list management team can turn their attention to the rookie list. With Jake Melksham to return from suspension and Bomber Michael Hibberd a chance to join him at Melbourne, spots on the senior list will be tight.

Max King
Now in his third season on Melbourne's list, the Demons would have to elevate the 200cm big man to keep him. Working in King's favour is Melbourne's lack of ruck depth, but with spots on the list hard to come by he is not guaranteed a spot. DELIST

Viv Michie
Michie is a capable AFL player and has appeared in three senior games for Melbourne this season. He was delisted and redrafted by the Demons as a rookie last year, but is quite a way down the pecking order and not likely to earn another contract. DELIST

Joel Smith
The son of former high-flying Demon Shaun has been cut down by a groin injury in his first season at Melbourne. A project player as a category B rookie, the former basketballer will be given time to develop. RE-ROOKIE

Josh Wagner
Wagner has been a revelation in his first season, averaging 18.3 disposals since making his debut in round three. The 22-year-old defender is versatile and a polished ball user with plenty of scope for improvement. ELEVATE

Mitch White
White played his first game of the season against the Dockers a fortnight ago after strong form in the VFL. The mid-sized backman defends strongly in one-on-one contests and provides rebound from the back half. RE-ROOKIE  - Ben Guthrie

Embraced by teammates after his first goal, Viv Michie may be let go by the Demons. Picture: AFL Media

North Melbourne

North's list is delicately poised as the club tries to reignite its season and push deep into finals again before making some tough calls on senior players. How the Roos finish the season and the form of their ageing warriors could impact several rookies' futures.

Majak Daw
Despite only playing three senior games, Daw has shown improvement this season and grabbed the attention of rival clubs. After investing years of development in the 25-year-old ruck-forward, North would be bitterly disappointed to lose him now and needs to offer more opportunity. ELEVATE

Will Fordham
Could be relying on what happens to the older players at the end of the season, but the 20-year-old midfielder hasn't come on as much this year and could be borderline to keep his rookie spot. RE-ROOKIE

Robin Nahas
Has booted just three goals in seven appearances this season and is still only on the fringes in his third year at Arden Street. His spot on the rookie list could go to a younger, developing player. DELIST

Braydon Preuss
Is showing encouraging progress in his second season and at least deserves another year on the rookie list, although the 206cm ruckman might be an elevation chance if Daw chooses to leave. RE-ROOKIE

Farren Ray
After, hopefully, another finals tilt, it might be time for the Roos to look to the future and give their developing midfielders more opportunities. Ray has been handy in four games, but is battling a hamstring injury and there are concerns over the 30-year-old's body. DELIST - Travis King

Port Adelaide

In his second stint on the Power's rookie list Kane Mitchell has impressed with his tenacity and tagging ability. Nathan Krakouer was worth taking a risk on as a rookie for a second season, while their trio of youngsters should be given another year to develop.

Cameron Hewett
A finger injury delayed the 19-year-old's start to the season. He's shown touches of class at both ends of the ground and will continue to develop in the SANFL. RE-ROOKIE

Dan Houston
Another 19-year-old who was hampered early on by injury, the medium-sized forward has slowly worked his way into senior footy. Co-captained the Oakleigh Chargers in the TAC Cup last year. RE-ROOKIE

Nathan Krakouer
Krakouer has had his moments this year in his second season back in the AFL, playing 10 games for the Power. However, the 28-year-old missed the North Melbourne victory for personal reasons, but has done enough to earn a spot on the list for next year. ELEVATE

Kane Mitchell
The 26-year-old has taken his chance in the senior side with both hands, putting in strong performances in the past three weeks in tagging roles. Also off-contract, but should be elevated to the senior list. ELEVATE

Will Snelling
Last year's SA under-18 captain, Snelling has had a long layoff with a foot injury, returning to the field in the SANFL on the weekend. A very promising midfielder. RE-ROOKIE - Lee Gaskin

Richmond

While there are concerns on the main list, the Tigers have done well with their rookies this year. A blend of mature-age recruits and project players have impressed and most will at least be retained or in some cases promoted. Departing veterans will clear the way, with more underperforming Tigers expected to be moved on.

Jason Castagna
The second-year rookie has announced himself at AFL level in the past fortnight after a period of sustained VFL form in the midfield. He is the strongest Tiger in the gym and ready for a senior contract. ELEVATE

Mabior Chol
An exciting prospect in the VFL, the Sudanese-born tall forward is raw and yet to play at the top level. The 19-year-old has shown promise in 10 VFL games, however, and is deserving of another year. RE-ROOKIE

Adam Marcon
After a dozen VFL games, the mature-age recruit looks close to making his AFL debut. The Tigers will be keen to see him at the top level before rushing a decision on the 23-year-old. RE-ROOKIE

Callum Moore
Eye-catching in the VFL this season but kicking has let him down. Still, upside should dictate the Tigers stick with the 19-year-old for a second season on the rookie list and see what he can become. RE-ROOKIE

Jayden Short
Has found his niche in the senior team as a rebounding defender, using his neat skills and daring instincts. The 20-year-old will be a nice addition to the senior list next year. ELEVATE - Nathan Schmook

Ivan Soldo
Has played 17 VFL games in two seasons as a project ruckman, coming from a basketball background. The 20-year-old was never going to be ready by this point and another season should be in the Tigers' plans given what they have already invested. RE-ROOKIE - Nathan Schmook

Richmond fans will be hoping Jayden Short is part of their future. Picture: AFL Media

St Kilda

While the backbone of the Saints' list is in good shape, work needs to be done at the periphery to bring in more talent. That could mean multiple players are moved on as St Kilda looks to find those who can help take the club towards its next period of successive finals campaigns.

Joe Baker-Thomas
The category B rookie has split his time between the VFL and the development league, and it's hard to justify a list spot for the athletic New Zealand native. DELIST

Nick Coughlan
The Saints need all the taller defenders they can get, with Sam Fisher and Sean Dempster nearing the end. Coughlan has performed well this season. RE-ROOKIE

Jason Holmes
Done enough to warrant promotion. Although the American big man hasn't played senior football this year, his athleticism and effort mean he is a solid back-up. ELEVATE

Nick O'Kearney
Has shown he can find the football at every level he has played. Worth seeing if that ability translates to the AFL. RE-ROOKIE

Brenton Payne
His impressive marking ability means he is worth persisting with. There are promising signs from the 193cm key-position player. RE-ROOKIE

Josh Saunders
First drafted in 2012 and has split his time between the VFL and the VFL reserves this season. The 21-year-old has had enough chances to impress. DELIST - Dinny Navaratnam

Sydney Swans

The Swans have had some great success with their rookie-listed players in 2016, with three already upgraded this season and two making their senior debuts. Most were targeted to fill specific holes on the club's list.

Jordan Foote
From the Swans' academy system, Foote has been outstanding in the NEAFL through the midfield and in defence and was upgraded last week. Big chance to play his first game this week. RE-ROOKIE

Kyle Galloway
A project ruckman who looks a long way from playing senior footy, Galloway has time to get some experience given the club is keen to have a stable of big men on the list. RE-ROOKIE

Harrison Marsh
Finally made his debut in his fourth year at the club as an upgraded rookie after three lean years on the senior list, and has played three games to date. RE-ROOKIE

Lewis Melican
Hasn't had a lot of luck with injury but could be a handy key position prospect if he can string some consistent footy together. RE-ROOKIE

Sam Murray
Drafted for his speed and foot skills last year, the 18-year-old has produced some good footy in the reserves at times as a half-forward. RE-ROOKIE

Nic Newman
Unlucky not to have been upgraded after a brilliant season across half-back in the NEAFL. Looks a definite senior player if given a chance. ELEVATE

Colin O'Riordan (International)
The Irishman has made amazing strides this season as a defender, impressing everyone at the Swans with his attack on the footy and foot skills. RE-ROOKIE

Tom Papley
Papley has been a revelation in kicking 15 goals from 10 senior games this year after debuting in round one, and earning a NAB Rising Star nomination. ELEVATE - Adam Curley

Tom Papley has already proved valuable to the Swans. Picture: AFL Media

West Coast

The Eagles' main list is very settled given they are in premiership contention. They might look at turning over some of their rookies to shuffle the deck a bit and look at developing a few more project players.

Corey Adamson
The second-year category B rookie has come on leaps and bounds and is even being considered for a senior debut. He's been moved through a few positions for East Perth but seems to have settled as a hard-nosed inside mid. The former baseballer should continue to progress. RE-ROOKIE

Paddy Brophy
The Irishman is a diligent professional who works hard and has hardly missed a game at WAFL level. He has been a fixture in East Perth's defence playing on a mix of forwards. The Eagles would hate to lose him but his opportunities to progress are limited. RE-ROOKIE

Brant Colledge
The 21-year-old was drafted in 2012 but has really battled for opportunities. He's played just three senior games despite being consistent at WAFL level as a midfielder who can push forward and kick goals. He may need to seek further opportunities elsewhere. DELIST

Kane Lucas
The former Blue was recruited as a depth player in 2015 to shore up the Eagles' midfield stocks. He has been close to playing a number of times over the last two seasons but hasn't quite broken through. Suffered a season-ending knee injury in the WAFL. DELIST

Jordan Snadden
The 18-year-old midfielder has spent most of the year playing WAFL reserves. He has played just two WAFL league matches and collected just eight touches in both. Remains a project player and could get another year. RE-ROOKIE

Simon Tunbridge
Has had his battles with injury but he is a handy asset at his best, playing as a mid-sized high half-forward. Was delisted last year and re-drafted as a rookie. Could remain as a depth player. RE-ROOKIE

Alec Waterman
Has had a wretched run with glandular fever and post-viral fatigue issues. Has not trained at all this season as he continues to battle his illness. No decision will be made on his future in the short-term. The club is keen to continue to support his recovery. RE-ROOKIE - Alex Malcolm

Western Bulldogs

With one of the deepest senior lists in the AFL, the Dogs went for a mix of experience and developing youth. Only Jed Adcock has seen senior action this season despite a host of injuries to the best 22 earlier in the year, but he looms as the most likely to lose his spot come season's end.

Jed Adcock
The former Brisbane Lions skipper was given a lifeline to act as insurance and he was serviceable in six games during the Dogs' injury crisis earlier in the season. The versatile 30-year-old is keen to go on next year and is some chance to do so. Could end up on the coaching staff if he isn't given another contract. RE-ROOKIE

Luke Goetz
The first-year ruckman hasn't played in the VFL for a number of weeks and hasn't been listed on the club's injury list in that time, so it's hard to read his progress. The 19-year-old is lightly built, but showed some signs earlier in the season in one NAB Challenge match and in the VFL. The Dogs released Goetz on Wednesday, citing an inability 'to find his feet in an elite AFL program'.

Brad Lynch
The defensive playmaker has had an impressive start to his career at the Dogs, with several eye-catching performances in the VFL. Very quick and skillful, the lean West Australian could prove to be another bargain if he puts on weight and improves his physicality. RE-ROOKIE

Roarke Smith
Only a few games back from a year out with an ACL injury, the versatile defender impressed in one senior game last year. In a similar mould to Easton Wood, the 20-year-old possesses a big leap and is as tough and courageous as they come. A chance to be upgraded to the senior list next season. ELEVATE - Ryan Davidson

If he's not re-rookied Jed Adcock may join the Dogs' coaching staff. Picture: AFL Media
