RICHMOND defenders David Astbury and Oleg Markov have re-signed until 2019 and 2018 respectively.

Astbury, 25, had been due to come out of contract at the end of the season, while Markov was in the first year of a two-year deal.

"We feel Dave is entering his prime as a player," Tigers football manager Dan Richardson told richmondfc.com.au.

"He has provided our defence with stability this season, and we are sure he will continue to develop his game and leadership at the club.

"He’s worked hard, is held in high regard around the club, and we feel the security of a three-year contract extension is well deserved."

The 17 matches he has managed this season equals the most he has played since his first year in 2010.

Markov, 20, was drafted at No. 50 last year and has played six consecutive games since he made his debut against the Western Bulldogs in round 16.

"His speed, athleticism and decision-making are impressive, and we’re really pleased with how he’s adapted to AFL level," Richardson said.
